2017 TRD Pro Brake click

    I have a 2017 TRD Pro with 29k miles. 99% driving in city and highway. Suddenly, I've been getting a click/clunk metallic ping sound happening when I apply the brake. Specifically, it happens like this....I'm in park, apply brake, put into either drive or reverse, let go of brake, apply brake to stop (this is when the sound happens). I took into dealer for oil change and had them check it out. They said they lubricated brakes, but is still making noise. Now they are claiming it could be control arm. It's out of warranty and seems odd for control arms going out on a gently used TRD Pro. The weird thing is if I apply brake multiple times while going in same direction, it only makes the sound the first time I apply the brakes. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.     Have a trusted local mechanic look at it for you.
    I’ve had this issue in the past. Was told it is the caliper slide pins. Could be something different on your rig but get a second opinion.

    Bunch of Basic Taco mods.
    Could also easily be a little play between your pads and the caliper/slide pins. First time you touch the brakes, pads shift in the direction the rotor is dragging them. When you reverse direction, they shift the other way.

    Just a plausible theory.

    FYI I have to take it back on Thursday. Apparently, after complete disassembly of calipers, lubrication, etc. there was still the sound and the "master technician" could feel a little bit of movement in one of the control arms. It's a 2017 that I bought in September of 2016 so it's out of warranty by time frame. My mileage is only 29k so he said that he will try to make a warranty claim after diagnosis. He said that Toyota sometimes will cover something like this, but no promises. If they don't cover it, I may just sell it and go to another brand. I'm very disappointed that Toyota's top of the line truck's control arms are going bad at 30k miles.
