My wife's Highlander has a parasitic drain - if she parks it after work on Friday and doesn't start it until Monday, it'll be dead. I'm reasonably certain it the Autostart that the Toyota dealership installed when we bought it four and a half years ago.

I decided today would be a good day to work on it so I tore into the dash and found the unit then had the bright idea that instead of disconnecting the wiring harnesses (which I've been told is a bitch to get out), I'd just pull the two inline fuses.

After pulling the second fuse, the horn blared for 30 seconds or so after I put it back in then finally stopped. I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled.

Long way to get to my question - if I have one fuse pulled but not the other, is that "good enough" as it doesn't have full power or will the drain still be there? Or do I need to just suck it up and pull the harnesses?

I just took it for a spin around town then back home on the interstate and everything is running like it should. The factory fob, which didn't work because the Autostart took over its functions, work normally. I'm going to call this good for now.

I do need to buy a better multimeter that does amperage so I can check the draw, though.
