So, I recently made a camping inquiry for Upstate NY and was grateful to all of you for the responses that got me exactly what I needed.

Now I need to ask the same for Southern to Central New Jersey (I was thinking somewhere like the Pine Barrens area).

Basically, we are planning to make a visit from NC to Upstate NY this summer so grandkids can see grandparents. The visit would include a two or three night camping trip (hence the upstate NY camping question) The kids dictate stops to rest and go to the bathroom. We already have an overnight stopover at a friend's place in Northern VA. But due to our destination being really old people in the age of Covid, I am really reluctant to stop at rest stops, etc on the NoVA to upstate NY leg.

It suddenly occurred to me that camping one night up and back might be the solution and the kids would love additional nights under the stars anyway.

Can anyone recommend a place in southern or central NJ where we could drive a couple of miles in (we will be in a convoy of Tacos) and dispersed camp by our trucks?

I would be grateful for any advice or recommendations for this.

That all depends on what areas are currently allowing permits. I camped at the group site at brendan t byrne state forest before and the group site can accomodate 3-4 trucks, though technically vehicles are supposed to be parked in the parking lot. Anything more south like Wharton will likely be too far out of your way.
