Finally got a Scangauge II to monitor transmission temperatures while towing.

Where are you mounting yours? When I did a search (YES I DID SEARCH), I found one that was mounted on the dashboard above the radio - not digging that. Gen I/II has an A pillar mount - looks kind of ricey but at least it's something.

    What do you all do?

Do these do more than the phone apps that use a bluetooth OBDII dongle?

Driver's side left vent. Snake cable down door gasket. Attached with some gorilla tape. The other location I was looking at is the radio bezel.

If you set up xgauges, let me know if Short and Long Fuel trims report for you. For whatever reason, the CANSF obdii gauges for those don't report for me.

Buy the blend mount for it and put it on ur mirror. That’s where mine is. I’ll post a pic later if I can remember. But it’s a super clean look and it’s always in eyesight. Also you can get the lighting to match the interior lights almost exactly perfect

Velcro to the top of the steering column.. I like it in view to driver without having to look for it.

Trans temps is the main reason I got it but there are a lot of other interesting xgauges as well.

Usually run Trans temp/Clt temp day mpg/instant mpg.
I’ve read and cleared codes with it. If I bothered to pull the csv files I’d have mileage tables for the life of my truck.

No, other than a dedicated display and a no “flaffing around” every time you start your vehicle. They simply work extremely reliably. They were out years before phone apps and do work a lot more reliably and accurately, but it really is about time they updated them. The LCD is shit and programming them a PITA.

Mine is mounted over the rear view mirror using a blend mount. Six years so far no problems

My screen started to have dead spots after years of use and it being exposed to high temps. Before purchasing an update a couple years ago, I asked if they could replace the LCD and they did it free of charge. You can always ask if they'll cover it if you buy an update. I've had mine since 2003, still works great.

Entering xgauges is definitely a pita but it's one of those things you set and forget. I wish they had more pids available for various manufacturers. I also have an Autel AP200 which reports all modules and I've used more for diagnostics on my other vehicle.

Can you still use your QI charger if you do this?

yes. the SGII is attached from its' top so there is plenty of room below it and the cubby hole where the QI pad is. Plenty of room to reach your hand in.
