Hey folks so I have 2015 Tacoma base 2wd, I keep a ton of equipment for work in the back with a ca.per top and I'm afraid of wearing out the suspension. When it's fully loaded down I'm hitting the fender well on the back tires. The tires look flat all the time due to the weight, they're passenger tires and only 4 ply. My question is do I go with a Bilstein shock upgrade, install an air bag suspension, or new leaf spring / spring helpers. Also what tires would fit and not rub. I currently have the stock size 215/70/15 tires and stock rims. With the camper top I ride with 450-500lbs at all times.

So to be clear my back tires have hit the fender wells with the highest load I've had and that was while doing hard curves with a drop. The truck sits with about 5-6 inches of clearance with the normal load from top of tire to bottom of fender well. I'm really needing stronger higher ply tires for the weight, however would like to move up in size and I know that will make that gap smaller.

Any truck spring shop should be able to re-arch and add a leaf for about $300

Anybody know if these would work? I found a tore calculator on here that said they would but just want some more opinions.

Yeah it should fit even with the stock ride height. 235 is a common tire size for 16x7 inch tires, and are common on 2nd gens in general.

It sounds like you should upgrade your leaf pack AND use airbags or sumosprings for when you are hauling heavy

Yeah I think I'm gonna do the air suspension since my load does change sometimes, and eventually I'll be in the office everyday and this will be my weekend warrior camping rig. Anybody have a suggestion for air suspension for the base 2015 2wd tacoma?

IMO all you need is a re-arch and add a leaf. Keep it simple. Some KYB gas-a-just shocks and maybe a Hellwig rear sway bar and you’re all set. Edit: Oh and you’re gonna hate me but stick with the lighter P metric tires but that’s just me. Good luck whatever you do!

Haha no worries man I can probably lighten the equipment load but some new tires and rims sound nice haha. The camper top is almost 200lbs and I have a weathertech storage box in there that's a 2 person lift when empty loaded with equipment.

Mastercraft Stratus AP comes in 235/75/15 (again, keep it simple) C6BF7941-A393-4D0C-837B-CDF7214E1BF5.png
