Just thought I'd ask about this issue not a big deal but not sure what needs fixed or adjusted, replaced what have you.

It only does this when the fan speed is on low during start up. with the recycle cabin air
button illuminated. if you turn that off the clicking stops.

this happens every time I do a cold start up. I can use the low speed and recycle air position
after driving for 5 minutes no problem. so not sure what is causing this click click click

It sounds to me like the air dam is getting stuck. Any ideas.????

I think I need the help of a seasoned Tacoma veteran on this to get results.

Based on what you saying sounds like a bad air inlet door actuator.
You say it only does it when the recycle button is on that is what leads me to this assumption.

I'm going to do a better assessment of when it does this based on settings and when it does not and post back the results.'
I read a response on line on a similar problem and the blend door was the malfunction. I'm also going to look
under the dash on the passenger side while this is clicking and see if I can spot the culprit. I'll be back with more data.

Ok one time I tried to get it to click and it would not. That was earlier today (cooler)
Then later this afternoon (hotter) And it did exactly what it always does click click click.
I felt my hand under the glove box area and I could feel movement when the click happens
but too hard to determine an exact location.

If I turn the fan speed to any point (low med or high) with the circulate button on it will click
in any position except for the defrost position.

I may have to take the glove box out to see and feel what is causing this. So far. notta.

Yes I looked at this thread a little while ago. The Rock auto part four seasons 73303
OEM # 8710604040 is supposed to be a direct replacement for the 2012 ( covers multiple years) Less than $20
The one listed from Napa ( NOE-655-2283) dorman shows it is not a direct replacement.

However they do have another item listed that is under a different name and it is $131 similar to what
some of the post in this thread suggested.

I am 90% sure it is this blend door motor which is directly linked to the re-circulation of the cabin air during start up.
as well as other conditions. I'm going to remove this same part on my Tacoma next week and compare it to
the one on rock auto. if all goes well this will fix it for $20 plus the labor.

I will post a follow up on this. Thanks Tomwil
