    Hi everyone,

There seems to be a lack of forums discussing Canadian pricing for 2020 models and was therefore wondering if I'm getting a good deal on a 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport Premium package here in Alberta, Canada.

Currently the lowest offer I've gotten is $46,050 before tax, with nothing else thrown in it, and was wondering if this is a good price? I notice that people on this form suggest to offer 10% off MSRP, or right on invoice pricing, which seems to be $44,185 according to Car Cost Canada.

I'm sorry if this has been answered in a different form I haven't been able to retrieve, but this will be one of my first big purchases and want to make sure I don't skip out on any discounts.

I'm in Saskatchewan, and I got a 2020 Off-Road Premium for $44,670. For perspective, the OR Premium's MSRP is about $500 more than the Sport Premium according to Toyota Canada. I got over $2000 off MSRP. This is before any freight, tax, AC charges and mandatory charges (block heaters are mandatory in Saskatchewan, for example).

I was on the fence between the Sport Premium and the OR Premium but went with the OR since I wanted the shorter box and I like the look a bit more. Otherwise, they're nearly identical inside.

Doesn't seem too bad. I paid $43,500 (before tax etc) for my 2018 TRD Sport short box MT in Quebec. Dealer wouldn't budge on price, I was able to negotiate more for my trade-in and half the price of winter tires but they would not lower the price of the truck.

Not a Premium, but as recently as about two weeks ago, I got my 2020 TRD Off Road DCSB for $2000 off MSRP and I got them to throw in an OEM bed mat before I completed the deal. I'm in BC.

I got a 2019 OR i believe i was about $45,000 tax in. Had them toss in the undercoating and the TRD OEM Skid Plate. Believe that was about $2000 off MSRP.

I paid 39500 for my 2018 Sport DC SB, premium and tech package. I got about 3500$ off msrp which was pretty good.

They increased the price in 2020 so that price is pretty average.

It would help to know where you are from. I find there aren't any dealers in the south that want to cut much off MSRP. I've found Calgary dealers to be the worst. I've heard better luck with getting deals in the Edmonton area.

A good question is why are you buying now? The economy in Alberta is in for the worst times seen since the NEP in the 80s. I'd wait a bit for the dealers to get desperate to move inventory. Then you'll start to see the real deals.

That price seems pretty on par to what is around here. Pre-meltdown I was shopping for the summer but have put those plans on hold till the economy looks better.

I agree with Sterdog, if you're not in a rush I don't imagine dealers are selling much currently and would probably be open to negotiations with all that's going on. Visit a few dealers and you'll probably do good.

I can't remember what I paid for my 2018 but I do remember I took several months before I finally made a purchase. I did research what the dealers had on their lots and made/regularly updated a small database in Excel of who had what and included Stock Numbers.

By Stock Number tracking I found that a truck I was interested in had been sitting on the lot for about 7 months (access cab - manual). At that point I started negotiating online and got a good deal (well over $2,000 off MRSP - I think closer to $3,500 or $4,000). I bought mine at South Pointe in Calgary - I can't say it was my best experience buying a new vehicle but I got the price I wanted. Prior to that, I bought my old 2010 Tacoma from Gateway Toyota in Edmonton which was a pretty good experience.

Of course there are CarCostCanada reports that help - and This Guide (originally posted on Tacomaworld) on negotiation is a classic as well.

Also have to agree with what other's have said - there has to be some potential Covid 19 related deals out there. A lot of people are or have lost their jobs in Alberta and there are probably a few who won't have jobs to return to after this is over, hence they are not making major purchases right now.

Nicely done. The wait is the worst. The factory shut down 5 days after I put in my order; thankfully my truck was completed before the shut down.

I just picked up my 2020 DCSB TRD off road premium here in Calgary about a month ago. I got 5 year financing at 0.49%, and you should be able to push for about $2500-3000 off msrp. I had thought there might be some better deals but I was also told that the manufacturing plant was also shut down or operating at lower capacity, so they don’t have as much inventory as usual. Not sure how accurate that is, but that’s what they were saying.

I was happy with the pricing I got though, and got exactly what I wanted so I was happy at least. And the finance rate is pretty good as well.

Well I don’t remember the price totally for my 2020 OR lifted light bar from Cochrane Toyota. But your number seems about right. If I was in Calgary would be able to look it up but I am up north of the 60th enjoying 20hr of light already. I think all in I am close to 50k. I pick it up on Nov2019. 0723D31B-831D-4975-A60B-18EFB10278B9.jpg

These are some good deals to get anything off msrp, back in 17 from Gateway mine was just over 45 out the door w/run boards, box cover and bug deflector. I’d get another one in a second if I had to.

Nice. My son lives in Cochrane (I’m in Quebec). He took me to “Tacoma Town” when I was out there and they had allot of trucks in inventory in January. Big dealer.

I picked my sport premium up last week. 2500 off MSRP with a few extras thrown in. 0% 48mo.

Best deal I could get in my area.

Cochranes not even close to being the biggest Toyota truck dealer in Alberta. I have nothing against them, they installed the blower on my Tacoma, but they aren't well known for being the best deal out there. Usually the Calgary dealers will undercut them on price and often have better stock.

Funny side story, the mechanic and parts person that really go the whole Tacoma Town thing rolling don't even work there anymore. They jumped ship and started their own company. They've even built a couple of truck up for Cochrane, though I think both were in the 90k range so I doubt they've sold lol.

These interest rates are great but I wonder how long dealers can stay open with almost no stock coming in and very few buyers coming through the door.

Are you talking about Krave Automotive? Awesome looking trucks, but too rich for my blood.

Yeah, KRave is Kyle and Ryan. Hence the name.

The funny story is that they don't price those truck for Cochrane. Trust me, Cochrane Toyota has been trying to sell 100k overpriced Tacomas for a long time lol, well before KRave was around. There's a young guy with fresh money burning is his pocket somewhere.

The blue one sold a couple weeks ago for ~65k, I almost bought it myself but the build was just a bit different from what I'm after. The "KR Pro" for 90k is still sitting, I think they built it like a month before COVID hit and screwed the economy here even further. I go check the price on it once in a while just to see how much they've moved as Cochrane is now sitting on the most expensive Tacoma in town in the middle of a recession so lol.
