Informative. I assumed many IPOs tanked because investors were rewarding themselves for taking a risk on a company, but this clarifies quite a bit. Thanks!

You dont need to be voted in to pull the strings, you just need to be the highest bidder and you can get pretty much whatever you want.

The most surprising thing I took from this video is that people buy stocks based on a Robinhood trending tab. I did predict a few pages back that NKLA would be fairly priced $10-$20, but it was a wild guess I made.

It could be a good starting point for ideas, but you’ve got to take that info and then research it. I think a lot of it is gambling, and fundamentals don’t matter for that.

and on that note...Robinhood vows to update interface so 20 year olds who have no idea what they are doing don't commit suicide why they wait for a spread option trade to settle...My issue is it shows he has $16K. You need $25K to trade options...

This. I could trade OTM options with barely any money.

robinhood has no fucking clue what they're doing.

I can buy a hammer and hit myself on the head with it if I want.
Should I sue the hammer manufacturer? The hardware store? How about the cartoon I saw when I was 5 where someone got hit on the head with a hammer?
Have we completely abandoned any notion of personal responsibility?

Yes. You could sue the hammer manufacturer, store that sold it, network that aired that cartoon. Spill hot coffee on yourself and sue McDonald’s. Pretty sad.

That’s all true, and all sad. As for trading apps, it seems like it would be a good idea to make someone pass a test and exhibit an understanding of what they are doing before they are allowed to use the options trading and margins and whatever else is going to get people confused and into trouble.

I agree, my broker won’t let me trade options unless I pass a test. I was surprised Robinhood allowed it. Margin is a whole different story, no way should an amateur be allowed anywhere near it.

I dumped robinhood after their 3rd "outage". After that I believe they have had no less than 3 more since then.

Trading options and not having a functioning service is not the fault of the user. People who spend a lot of money on options, only to be unable to sell them and then expire worthless is pretty fucking shitty.

And their only apology was "here's $75 we'll give you if you sign a form that bars you from suing us".
I told them to go fuck themselves and would be waiting for class action lawsuit materials. I don't give a shit if I get $4 after it's all said and done, I want them to feel pain.

In a litigious society like ours, yes we have completely abandoned all personal responsibility. Don't like it get a lawyer and sue. The worse part is people win those suits. We reward idiots. A lot.

If someone causes you real damages, through no fault of your own, and refuses to make you whole, well.... That's what lawsuits are for.

If, however, you damage yourself through stupidity or incompetence or whatever, it's my opinion that you should own that and not search frantically for someone else to blame.

In case it wasn't clear, I'm using "you" in a generic sense, not specifically @ThunderOne

There’s more to the McDonald’s coffee lawsuit than “she spilled coffee on her and got a little burned so she sued McDonald’s.” But I do agree IRT ridiculous lawsuits.

I know, it was a lot hotter than she should have reasonably expected it to be, and the burns were severe. I still disagree, she spilled it.
