Taco’s should stay on easy trails!

Now that I got your attention, I love these Funtreks Books, Great deal at $10.00 for the iPad. Just bought the 4th edition and noticed on the cover they used a Tacoma picture for the “Easy” trails. lol

 

Maybe it’s aimed at Tacoma owners that buy trail guides for their iPads?

 

I mean, If I'm being honest, I switched over to a Toyota Tacoma from a built Jeep because I wanted to exit the rock crawling scene and have a comfortable daily driver/grocery getter that I could still take remote camping.

 

Love the books. Had the third edition and just bought the forth today with itunes money from Father’s day. Was just kidding about the Taco, really just to get the word out about the books. The pic was Mt Baldy of of Old Stage yes. Not sure what the summer holds but browsing through these books is how I choose.

Did the same. I have had both a Rubicon and a lifted 4 door Sahara. I also had a stock FJ off-road that did well on Moderate trails which is what I enjoy with the new Tacoma. Don’t care for the difficult ones, too stressful. lol

 

I think it means the trails are easy in a Tacoma, because they don’t break down, moderate in a stock Jeep, that only has a few recalls, and overheats a bit, the then difficult in a modified Jeep because you are basically gonna need a tow out of the back country.

 

Now that’s funny stuff right there.

 

This is pretty accurate. Which is why older me is fighting the kid inside that wants to mod out the new truck. Hopefully I can hold out enough to at least keep this thing reliable.

I have a moderate 2 inch lift and 33 inch tires and some rock rails and a skid plate. Bought it this way and will most likely leave it this way.

 

Great looking truck. I'm tempted to go a similar route. But I'm fighting it. I'm on the highway 99.99% of the time these days. I just put some decent sliders on. I want to reroute the exhaust and get a transfer case and gas tank skid then call it done. Maybe once it has over 100k miles I might get the ich to lift and do down that rabbit hole.

 

During my younger and more impressionable years I modded the eff out of my 1st gen. It sits in my driveway.

Since that time I’ve learned that a lightweight (read- not overburdened with 800 lbs of armor and basically beating the truck to physical exhaustion) tacoma with relaxed drive angles (1” to 2” lift) and upgraded rubber will truck straight through the wilderness and get you home every single time.

 

Exactly! Get you home every time being the most important. Also, although I still enjoy wrenching sometimes, I just don't have the time. I rather use my time on the trail somewhere. So my effort now goes into mostly preventative thinking/preventative mods. And I don't really want to stand out anymore. I want a truck that blends in. So I can leave it parked somewhere unfamiliar and not always be worried about getting ripped off.

 

Shoot that’s my exact reason too. I also have a pretty built XJ, locked front and rear, 4:1, armor, the whole 9...while it’s great and is pretty much unstoppable I needed a family rig and frankly after daily driving it since 2007 I was ready for a change. I’m a huge Ford fan but got the Tacoma because frankly it’s the next best thing. It looks great, it’s decently capable stock, I actually like how it’s still a relatively basic vehicle by today’s standards and lastly...the aftermarket is crazy! You can literally get anything for this truck. So in the back of my mind, when I get the itch to run the Rubicon again or “go wheeling”, I’ll always have options to buy great armor, lifts and anything else that’s out there. Tacos really own the midsize market.

 

I love how you put them at the mall in front of Forever 21 too. Also, RIP Forever 21, you monster.

 

Wish there was a book like that for South East US.
