So true! I have not seen it much on this forum but I know on the Ram forum I belong to, people traded in just because the model 1 year newer had CarPlay, that’s it.

I'm my own advisor and as stated above I've gotten way better than that. I just asked to find the average guy a GUARANTEED 4% FOR 5 YEARS.

Leasing is great for people who like a new car every few years and dont plan on any mods. All my vehicles were bought and still have them all except 1.

I think people that lease/finance have the same time preference/mindset that leads to a down fall especially in times of crisis like this.

The debt laden lifestyle and the spendthrift mindset go hand-in-hand.

Youre so worried about some interest rate differential between leasing and buying. However, whether leased or not, you obviously spend crazy amounts of money stupid auto purchases. I’d say it’s an extremely excessive and shameful amount spent on vehicles. Each one of those dollars spent on a Tesla or some other luxury vehicle could have been making money on the market or towards a business or rental.

I am on the other side of the spectrum. I guess. I save 50-60% of my income every month. I have four kids, and I live in San francisco Bay Area (high expenses). I have no debt payments. I have no lease payments.

You’re worried some interest rate differential. i am not really worried about anything. I don’t even really think about money. I don’t budget anymore.

I also don’t have a TV in my house. I don’t have any video games. I don’t have any social
Media accounts. I go to the gym, I go to the back country to practice Bushcraft/fish, I play my used pianos/keyboards 1-2 hours day, and that’s all I really do.

I am a free person. I am free from interacting with creditors. I am free from having my mind poisoned by the toxic American culture of consumerism and wanting things that are unnecessary like brand new Tesla’s or Audi’s. Every month, you have to answer to your creditors. I answer to my myself and my family only. That’s what the interest rate math juggle doesn’t consider.

You’re a hypocrite, you’re on a Tacoma forum with a 2017 TRD. You’re not exactly driving a cheap beater car. Like it or not, you’re just as much a consumer as anyone else here with our 1st world problems. I’m in the Bay Area too BTW so I know what life is like here. There’s no simple living here. I’m sure you didn’t pay cash for your million dollar home. I’ll be looking for the blue TRD with a Make America Great Again bumper sticker and I’ll know it’s you.

I bought mine for $36k. Drove through deep water in one of our recent floods. Insurance paid me $30k and I bought it back for $10k. It’s a 2014 with about 40k miles.

Yea, fuck you and your holier than thou mindset. I have a house, boat, Porsche, 4Runner and my truck. I pay notes and have made more in the past six months than usual. Plus I don’t have to deal with bitch ass California. And I own guns

Surprisingly there’s been no riots in my town. Not that I’m holding it down but we all feel the same way.

OP. Buy, sell, lease, do whatever suits you man. If you want a truck that you can only afford with a lease then get it, you won’t be happy driving anything else. Just do whatever is best for you and your family. Who gives a shit what the internet says? You’re the only one in your position

In an ideal world we could all pay cash for our house, car, truck and everything else we desire, however this isn’t the case and hasn’t been since horses were our main mode of transportation
