Work in progress, who knows where it will end. Started life as a Canadian Base model. 3+” lift. Bilsteins, coils and leafs, SPC Ucas, Cooper 285s on 16” stealth 6s. TRD Sport hood, painted bumper cover. Chrome is Gone! Retrofitted high quality D2 Projectors into stock headlights, Incredibly Bright, looks awesome at night, my favorite mod I’ve done on any vehicle. Everything on body is factory Toyota but you can’t buy one this way..
2013 v6-6speed manual. Access cab. Stock drivetrain. 115k mi. The throw out bearing has been intermittently chirping for a few months now, didn’t bother me too much so I continued to run it. I am now having issues with the Clutch pedal binding, and the clutch won’t dis-engage. Started binding on my way to work Friday, it would work fine for. Few shifts, the the pedal would get stiff and clutch wouldn’t let go. I had major issues on way home, couldn’t get it out of gear, won’t go back in while running. The pedal feels as though it’s bound up. It doesn’t feel like it is out of fluid and the pedal doesnt drop, it feels like there is too much resistance, like it is binding.. I have read about the problems the TOB can cause with transmission input shaft(transmission snout) wearing groves, that the TOB get hung up on. I believe this is possibly my issue.

I want to know if anyone else has had this issue, and what the problem was to be fixed? My thoughts are new TOB and sleeve fix, from URD and a fresh clutch while I am in there. But I am not 100% sure and I don’t want to order parts if it is another issue I am missing?
Any thoughts or info is appreciated. Thanks. Alex.

Your problem (as you said) started with the throwout bearing shaft being made of aluminum and wearing. Its likely got so far gone there is now problems with shift fork, linkage, etc. Hopefully there is enough left of your aluminum casting to perform the URD fix

As far as what to order, you won't know the full extent of what needs replacement until you tear into it, but start with the clutch, pressure plate, and TOB, with the steel sleeve for it to ride on.

Hopefully your flywheel can be resurfaced

Sounds like the quill is toast, and the TOB is binding on it.

edit: might be time to drop the tranny, and see if you can source a new bell housing. And get the URD sleeve and bearing kit.

I am hoping the damage is minimal. It never gave the hind of a problem except for the TOB chirp. After it bound for the first time I had to drive it home from work 30 miles or so. The clutch has never slipped on me and has always been smooth, so I would assume fly wheel should be machine-able with clutch replacement. I bought the truck used so I’ve been wanting to do clutch at some point, So I know it’s history.

What would cause hell housing to need replacing? From the parts schematics I’ve seen the transmission quill is not part of bell housing. I could see the quill and whatever parts it is mounted to ir the sleeve fix. maybe a TOB and fork assembly as well. What happens to bell housing?

I am however, reading a few cases of the pivot ball that the release fork rides on, coming loose and damaging the bell housing where the pivot ball threads in. Man this will get pricey if I need to replace EVERYTHING.
