Hello all! I just bought my first Taco, and I’m looking at a CAI. I’m between AEM, Flowmaster, and K&N right now. Does anyone have experience with any of these?

Afe seems to produce the most power, I personally run a Volant with air scoop. The only true Cai is the URD.

I would probably purchase an intake with a ram air scoop as tacomas already have very efficient stock cold air intakes.

There won't be much of a gain, your throttle response will be improved. A tune such as hptuners will be a great supplemental upgrade that will allow you to squeeze the most power out of your setup.

I have the aem brute force, its really loud above 3500ish rpms. fitment was mint though probably the cleanest cai install I've had to deal with.

You will get the same hp gains with a more visual improvement by getting a skeewp hood.

Back when I had my 06' Tacoma, I had a K&N intake. It just made more noise at WOT. I felt like I lost a little low end torque on the initial get-go, but I feel that's true with all aftermarket intakes without a tune. With all the intakes I've bought for my cars, it's convinced me I don't need to spend on any more. Get the HPTuner tune as I think that would be money more well spent.

Douche response since I never said don’t get one. I just asked why? It’s a truck not a race car. It has a factory CAI. And finally anyone who knows anything about cars knows CAIs don’t do shit for performance. But nowhere did I say don’t get one.

For the sound really. Easier and cheaper than a catback exhaust, with similar benefits (i.e. no power gains, but throatier sound above 3000 rpm).

In case you're not aware OP...

Tacomas come with a cold air intake stock, from the factory. You can see this for yourself if you follow the intake from the air box out to the passenger fender. The inlet is outside the engine bay - therefore 'cold air'. If you're looking for performance you'd be better off saving up for new gears. Some "cold" air intakes even move the intake inside the engine bay. So yeah, figure that one out.. I'd say the marketing gurus won this round.

But if you just want more noise, then by all means go for it
