you didn't specify rifle or pistol ammunition, so i averaged it

0.14 per-round comes out to around $700 for 5000 rounds, more if it's decent quality ammunition (i.e. not shitty steel-cased russian surplus bullshit) and even more if it's to supply any sized rifle that isn't a 22LR

i have never known a woman to volunteer money for ammunition

also, the specificity of volume. you provided a number, nobody does that when relaying incidental information

and even if your wife is Sherri Gallagher, she's not going to proclaim to you that you should get a specific number

if either of you shoot that much you'd have a plan in place and you'd just order the fucking ammo, not make a remark about it

and if you really did shoot that much, you'd have realized a long time ago that reloading is a better investment

shotguns are good for killing birds, less-than-lethal, and breaching. and that's about it

but shooting stuff is fun, even with a shotgun

Double-ought buck on a slug barrel would like to have a discussion with you regarding the definition of “less than lethal.”

So would #4 steel duck shot for that matter. All the king’s surgeon’s and all of his men won’t be able to find all of the pieces to put you together again.

Depends what you use. Imagine a bucket drop of your choice of flammable liquid. Intruder opens the door, gets soaked in said liquid. Wife shows up with a dragons breath round. One shot- one kill...

    https://youtu.be/WwhCygmhbCg

Sure beats my usual plan of a squirt bottle of lighter fluid. Spray intruder, ask them politely to leave as you stand there with a lighter in hand. People hate being set on fire.
