The switch pro does all that internally so it would be redundant but I guess you technically could just not sure why you would

Yeah exactly. The SP terminal is just to connect your accessories and be able to move them later. If u have the option, might as well mount the SP vertically

I ended up getting a blue sea buss bar for my grounds. That’s my only gripe so far with the SP vs spod is the grounding.

They might be to some, but that is exactly what the SP 9110 replacing. If you need something to stay hot you can program that into the SP 9100 and also set a minimum voltage that would shut the switch down so you don't leave yourself without starting power.

Plus with the SP 9100 you only have to run wires to the switch panel one time instead of running many wires to hook up multiple switches.

Why get a bus bar for grounds when you can ground your device ground very near to the device.

SP grounded to bus bar then the 8 accessories that are getting hooked to SP cleanly grounded in the bus bar instead of all stacked on neg battery terminal or on random bolts.

I think I understand the capability of the SwitchPro 9100.

Basically I want the ability to turn accessories on and off and leave certain accessories on without the ignition being on.

So is the 9110 a newer model that combines the functionality of a fuse box/relay with a built in breaker that allows control of your accessories with just one panel?

IMO it's just cleaner. A complete, fully insulated / protected harness going all the way to the SP looks better than one short ground and a single long positive to the SP. Plus if u ever need to troubleshoot everything is in one spot. There is no right way. It's basically preference

there is a school of thought that says your ground wire needs to be equal length to the power wire. No clue if there is any truth to that.

Are the 4 wires going to the controller / switch panel regular wires - not coax etc.? Need to lengthen them to work with my battery relocation.

Pretty sure they are nothing special but may want to check with switch pros just to verify. They are pretty responsive.

they can also make you a cable of any length you want. I had to get a replacement for my tundra.

I’m going to work with switch pros on this as well but figured I’d ask here too.

I don’t know when the issue happened as I I haven’t used hooked to the switch pro for months. I’m getting ready for a trip and checking through things I noticed my switch panel doesn’t light up anymore. Which also means nothing works.

Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
    • 12v from battery good
    • Ground from battery good
    • Power from light good
    • No corrosion in the connector
    • 12v output to three (I think) of the panel wires
    • At the panel three wires are between 3-5 volts one is a ground
    • Battery voltage is somewhere around 12.5v. Problem persists when truck is running so it’s not a voltage issue
I haven’t started removing circuits but I’d assume how this works a bad circuit shouldn’t shut the whole thing down.

Any ideas or what else I should be checking?

When I had an issue like this on my 9100, the 4 pin controller cable would move just slightly when plugged in. If you pushed the connector into the plug, everything would work. If you pulled on it, it would move slightly and everything would shut down. Talked to switch pros and replaced the cable and everything has been fine since.

if there’s an issue with a circuit, it’ll shut down that circuit not the entire thing.

Mine is the older one with the single big connector. Seems okay there.

I figured that was the case about one circuit going bad.

Hey fellas, I'm sort of an imbecile when it comes to electrical. But I'm going to give it a go on installing the Switch pro. Before I dive into this project I'm looking for a complete list of things I'll require.

    -Power tray vertical mount
-Blue sea 8 circuit terminal mount (to keep it tidy)
-Blue sea 10 screw bus bar (to keep it tidy)
    -switch pro 9100

What am I looking at as far as fuse tap, fuses, heat shrink wraps, terminals?

    Setup will include S8, S2, S1

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance boys.

Something to connect wires. Something to insulate the connections.

I like using marine grade heatshrink (aka adhesive lined) as well, 3:1 is best.

you’ll need a heat gun too, could use a lighter but heat gun works better. Can get them for <$10 at HF.
