Oh come on. No one thinks trying to get the damn computer into temp check mode is easier than pulling a dip stick up.

A dipstick worked on transmissions for years. For some reason the manufacturers thought it was a good idea to get rid of them. All to save a few cents for every vehicle without one.

Yeah, if you are really lucky you don’t even have to check the oil level.
I believe some BMW comes with this option.

Turn signals are an option, too. Don't think any new buyers check that box, though.

The only time a dipstick would be an advantage is if your leaking fluid and need to keep it topped off. Otherwise it is just another opening that can allow for contaminants to get into the transmission. The transmission fluid doesn't serve the same purpose as engine oil and it doesn't get burned up while being used. If there is no leaking there is no reason to check it. It isn't going anywhere and will last longer without a dipstick. If it is leaking it needs to be fixed.

    Generally I agree with you.
But I can’t say I do this time.

I can get a pretty good idea of the condition of the fluid by inspecting it on the dipstick.
And, it make maintaining the fluid much easier.
If the dipstick is allowing contaminations in, it needs fixed.

The ability to easily do maintenance, would probably make things last longer, than something that is NOT easily maintainable.

Definitely not trying to start a argument here.
Lack of maintenance is probably one the biggest reason things fail prematurely.
Even I am at fault of this at times.

I only sort of agree, But I'd still like to be able to check the fluid level like we've been able to do for decades. Plus being able to take a quick peak at the fluid condition would be nice.
