What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Should have used the 2 bolt holes and walked the rotors right off.

 

Just finished DIY ditch light brackets lol does the job!

 

I used NOICO RED 150 mil to cover the outer part of the skin. eBay $29 for 18 square feet
I used NOICO 80 mil (silver stuff) on all the interior of the skin. Amazon $32.99 for 18 square feet

For sound deadening you don't need 100% coverage but I wanted it because I wanted to insulate the truck from the hot coastal sun.

 

Is that the loud clack noise that I hear when I pull up to my parking spot, put it in reverse, and hear one or two clack sounds from the front? I figured it was brakes, but not something easy to remedy.

 

That’s exactly it. You can replicate that sound just by fiddling with the brake pad. It’s crazy how loud it is just by doing that

Oh ok - I thought you would have done that when you replaced the calipers so didn't think to suggest it. That's the simplest fix! For reference the brakes on my truck are strong but grabby - they bite hard right at the beginning of the pedal travel.

 

The facts that you've presented are shocking and truly informative.

 

Took my truck to the stealership for some periodic maintenance, and to have them check on a noise coming from the transmission. My maintenance agreement ends in September. Last of the pre paid oil and filter changes, and whatever other BS they overcharge for. Anyway, so, after they drove the truck around, three guys worked together to put it on the rack, and rev it while the other guys were listening, looking in the area of the transmission they determined their was a problem. They've decided that the internal bearing is failing. Thankfully, I got an extended warranty. Transmission repair covered! But I will be without my truck for a week and a half waiting for the part to come from the east coast. Note, the truck only has 61,000 miles.

WOW, only 61K miles.....this should have never happened. Glad to hear your extended warranty is covering this. Glad I have an extended warranty also. Did they give you a loaner? Or are you just doing without?

 

No loaner. I have a VW GTI as my daily driver. And I agree. Transmission failure at 61k seems pretty weak.

 

Used the truck to bring some donations over to the local Play It Again Sports. My neighborhood shopping center was the epicenter of the la mesa riots a few weeks back. 75% of downtown is up and running again and with all the donations the sports store owner said he could now open in a couple of weeks!

Finally finished all four door with NOICO 80MIL and RED 150. I did the roof a while back. Just need to do the rear wall in the future.
I did 100% coverage with both materials because temperature control was my main goal.

 

You did a much better job than I did, ha! Looks fantastic. I haven't done the floors or rear wall. I'll do the rear wall but I am not sure about the floors!
