A cement ORDB with MT is coming in next week (it's come down to one at a time) in Southern Oregon, no Premium, LED lights and foglights, bed light,
and All weather flr liner/door sill protector, and that's it. That's $882 in optional equipment.
The Base Model price is $35,335 w/delivery processing and handling $1,120 for a MSRP* price of $37,337. Question is, are they playing word games with the base model price or is the MSRP the starting point of negotiations? And what should I offer? Seems like expectations of way below MSRP are fading away. Also, I'm torn between this and waiting for a 2021 Access Cab with long bed to sleep in camping, and hoping they offer a MT in the OR and possibly a hybrid model. May have to settle for a Sport. Would appreciate all thoughts

Have you done any test driving yet?

Are you up against any timeline that makes it necessary to buy a truck quickly?

Are you willing to travel out of state to get what you want?

I think you will regret not getting the long bed. So Sport will work for you?

    And welcome to TW.

Any price (doesn't matter if it's msrp, list price, their ultra low special price, etc) is always negotiable. Now, if they don't want to sell for anything less, then that's up to them. I don't think it's realistic to expect to be buying for msrp on a '20 when '21s are right around the corner.

My truck with their bullshit was $39k....with the stuff I added it was almost $42k. I paid under $35. Cement OR 2018.

Not telling you what to pay, but deals can be had for sure

The Sport has more clearance built in with the 17" wheels, but lacks the rear skid plate. What are the other tradeoffs? Haven't test drove yet, but owned a 1995 and 2002. I can wait for the reasons I mentioned. Maybe 0% financing will return in the fall. Certainly better selection.

I don’t think there’s ever been an expectation of getting Tacoma’s way below MSRP; it’s not a domestic truck.

It sounds like you’re not really sure you want the truck.

If you want a MT, you have to get a short bed DC or an AC. What’s more important? Cab space, bed space, or the MT? Or the deal price, and the quality of the “deal”?

TRD trims are mostly equivalent with MT’s and whatever bells and whistles are missing can easily be added later. Hell my SR had everything I wanted, or easily added, that I paid $30k for OTD since it was a leftover 2017 in April 2018.

I wouldn’t pay MSRP but 5-10% off is more than reasonable to expect before TTT.

Imagine that if only we didnt have a thread dedicated to this already...

In general OP shot for 10% off MSRP prior to rebates, w/rebates 12-15% is doable but takes some work. As I'm sure you've found out Tacoma inventory especially ORs is drying up and dealers are now commanding a premium since the supply is gone. If you can wait, I would.

To be clear on the clearance issue, in case the OP doesn’t understand, the stock tires on the 16 inch and 17 inch wheels are the same diameter.

Deals are always a function of supply and demand. Not sure how inventory levels are in your area, but around me there are very few Tacoma’s on the lot, which could make a great deal more difficult to get, even as we get close to the end of model year where prices typically soften.

unless they changed it for 2020 the stock clearance on all trim levels is 9.4" per the manual since 2016

Supply may be lower than usual but so is demand with everything that's been going on.

When we bought, manuals were so few and far between it made getting a deal tough. Seemed there were only a dozen or two available across the country at any one time.
