Tons of people sell full homebrewing kits on offerup or craigslist, and it's a really nice way to get into the hobby for cheaper.

I am the complete opposite. I fully intend to keep a lager on tap at all times. The style may vary through out the year, but with a 4 tap set up that shouldn’t be a problem.

I posted it a long way back, but I had a Red X malt and Idaho 7 SMaSH that was very unique and delicious if you can get Red X malt. Northern Brewer and Atlantic Brew supply are the only places I’ve found that have it. My local store didn’t really want to order a sack as I was the only person they had ever had to ask for it.

They've just never been my style, too light and boring seeming to me. I normally like lots of stouts, porters, and IPAs. An occasional lager will surprise me, but it's not something I could see drinking a lot of. I tried a Helles a year or so ago and it was decent on tap, but my bottles never carbonated, so they're just kind of flat and a little sweet.

Edit: I think my LHBS has red x, i'd debated it for a smash too at some point I think. I'll have to check.

In other news, pulled my first pint of the NEIPA I made and I'm liking it a lot, although it's more like a less bitter West Coast than a NEIPA. It's a bit lighter bodied and less sweet than a NEIPA. I've been using this Omega Tropical IPA yeast since a few batches back, and I've just been harvesting and re-using the slurry with good results for the style of crisp IPA/pale I had been going for, but it didnt quite hit the mark for this one. I doubled checked their site and as I thought it might be, they list it as being "capable of fermenting dextrins, resulting in very high attenuation." which supports the idea that it's a bit less sweet/full-bodied than I was shooting for. Still a good beer, but I'd love to re-brew it exactly as is, but with London III or Conan or something more suited to the hazy style.

Yesterday I bought one of my favorites that I haven’t seen in a while: Edmund’s Oast “Cereal for Dinner” Blonde Ale planning on cracking it open the next day (today).

The lil’ lady, thinking she’d be nice, put it in the freezer to chill it for a bit unaware. Frozen solid tonight.

I went back to Lowe’s and luckily they still had some.

Also, not much of a soda guy but if I do have one it’s Cheerwine or Sun-Drop. I am a born and raised North Carolinian after all. So I’m pretty pumped for this local release next week:

Have you seen the Cheerwine Lager from New Sarum up in Salisbury? Looks very interesting. I do like a Cheerwine every now and then

I haven’t but I’ll be keeping an eye out for it now. Must be a limited release? I’ve seen their IPA, lager and blood orange wheat beer pretty regularly.
