Is that the same as breaking shit apart?
Cause I’ve done that, and I’ve seen the the broken pieces.
That’s when you know, you’ve really done something. LOL

    That will do it.

Denso reman in place n all good to go. (Keeping my good set o brushes from my alternator n returning it for the core.... I am half tempted to keep it and rebuild it with a new diode assembly... But meh)

This is also the diode burried in the heat the most between the block n manifold.

Ran across this thread trying to diagnose a similar issue. Whining that is like the old spark plugs interfering with the radio.

took my alternator off, found the one set of diodes just like you have shown in the picture. For giggles I had it tested. It passed. Hmm

I had originally thought my tensioner was bad so I picked one up, then I noticed the voltage at idle was low, not bad but low. I just got the new tensioner on and need to put the rest back together, now I am pondering if I replace the alternator, which is 5 days out due to living on the end of the road.
    Anyways. Thanks for the thread

You don’t happen to have a local electric motor shop close by do you? I’m lucky enough to have one in my hometown. Do great work and have found after they rebuild something, it lasts longer than buying any refurbished one. I agree with the posts, usually the whining is a definite sign that a bearing is on its way out. Good luck!

Unfortunately no, we no longer have a electrical rebuilder within 400 miles. Last guy passed and they didn’t keep the business going.

I ordered a Denso reman from rock auto last night, it should be here no later than Friday. Or so they promised.

When you look up an OEM Denso only available is a remanufactured so the online guys are the same one as dealer.
Get the best deal you can and check the return core see if shipping paid or you have to pay - can make the diff. Warranty is 1 year.
There are 2 alternators most 4.0L use the 130A for tow package (other is 100A) so check your Tacoma before ordering one.
