vapour barrier or dimpled drainage membrane ?

 

My brother in law has been doing foundations/slabs for 20 years. Vapor barrier is standard practice under the slabs with the rigid foam insulation but they typically do the black waterproofing spray on the outside of any livingspace type foundations then it gets the membrane and drainage on the exterior.

im at the bottom of a slope and the brainiacs who did my foundation did zero waterproofing, drainage, or gutters. There were mushrooms growing in the crawlspace. Had to trench and install drainage and gutters but fixed the issue, luckily.

 

The painter is fixing a lot of the issues with our drywall before he starts painting this week.

 

I'm in the same boat as you. I have to gut out the whole house, rewired, replumbed the whole house. Then I'm going to sell it. There's a lot of weirdos, strange characters moving into the neighborhood.

In this area there's about 70% of the contractors do crappy work. It's hard to find a decent contractor that not all about the money.

Total length is 45', about 400 bd.ft. I'm not sure what the material cost is but probably at least $1,000

 

Little update to my project. This is the same corner that I showed above. Humidity here made sanding mud a pain and slowed dry times but it’s done and smooth and painted. Building some built-in cabinets and a closet on this wall. I have the main cabinets completed and just have to finish up the face frames out of poplar. Kreg jig did a lot of the heavy lifting here as I went for hidden fasteners on everything. Also made a jig for my router to evenly space the shelves on the bookcases. Funny enough, this is my first time using the router for something other than milling out 80% lowers. Wood is way easier than aluminum. Progress pics and current state. Probably finish up the cabinets and shelving tomorrow and install cork flooring.

















Time to shake the sawdust off and go to bed.

 

Nice, I miss work like that, used to do estimating/drafting for a couple pole barn companies back when i first got out of school. I've never seen anything crazier than the way they would build "round" horse barns post frame style. Set each truss on the outside wall and a temporary giant support post in the middle, once everything is up and connected, hook a long chain to that post and a bobcat, pull that center support free, and hope the engineer got the loading specs right.

 

Face frame completed. Pocket holes in the back of the frame keep everything together.



And attached to the cabinets Glue and a few brag nails to hold it together while the glue dries.

 

and it looks like you even got to do some landscape work. I bet the homeowner is liking the new deck and pergola.

I'm trying to add a L14-30 outlet on the back of my house. Rather than having a separate box along side the standard outlet, I want to put both in the same 2-gang box. The problem I'm having is that no one seems make a 2 gang cover plate. Has anyone seen more than a single L14-30 in a box before?

Was hard to tell from the pictures he showed us, but it looked like some white padded plastic sheathing looking stuff.

 

The image they showed us was pretty much like this, though their photo looked a lot more loose.

 

This bugs me, we are in an apartment for now. But still

Finally got my laundry room utility sink installed. Tied into the supply and drain lines with the washer.



Now to build a shelf/cabinet/storage thing to go in between the sink and appliances to hide all of it and store laundry baskets and other stuff.
