I have a Sena SMH5 and it isn't as loud as I'd like. I ride with earplugs and a full face helmet, and the Sena sounds like background elevator music. It's not the bike that's loud, its the wind. Are there speaker upgrades available for this model?

My riding buddy told me this past weekend Sena has a trade in program running on certain models which they will give you a a fair value to trade in the current and buy their new one($300 range). Can't comment on a better system, have the basic sena now which does the job.

I've only had the best luck hearing music when I use sound isolating in ear earphones (I also ride w/full face helmet and ear plugs). Communications (voice) seems ok using the in helmet speakers and I've used both SENA and Cardo (older Scala rider G4). As far as the best sound isolating earphones, I loved my Etymotic ER6i which they stopped making years ago - those were the best for me. I currently have some Shure moes but they are bulkier and sometimes getting the helmet on dislodges them.
