Suspension Upgrade Question

    So I currently have a 3 inch spacer (in coil) lift with a one inch block in the rear. This is a Prolift or Revtec lift now from what I understand. I love the stance and ride height that it offers but the ride quality is horrible in my opinion. It is a really stiff and bumpy ride.



    So I am looking to make an upgrade. Primarily this is a daily driver but hit the trails a couple times a year. I would like to maintain the height I have but have a smoother ride overall (on and off road). From what I understand, most Bilstein, Icon, Fox, King coilovers will give you that desired height while configuring it for more preload. This will still make the ride quality rougher until you reduce the preload.

    So I guess my question is how do I do I achieve both ride height and comfort?

    In regards to the rear if I upgrade the shocks and remove the block, would I have to purchase a new leaf pack to get a desired 3 inch lift?

    Go with icon, fox, king...etc... any known brand.. you should be good. It already a plus since u have UCA already... For the rear go with OME, there a lot of good reviews on them...

    All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, 60MM stealth turbo
    It all depends on your budget but a middle of the road option would be a bilstein 6112 and then a 3 leaf aal that will give 1.5” of lift and if you keep overload spring then that adds .5”. Rear shock I’d just match to the front- either 5100 or 5160
    If you max out your lift height upward of 3” your ride quality is going to suffer regardless of the front strut you use. These trucks really don’t like to be above 2.5” to 2.75”. Most of the big name manufacturers preset theirs to around 1.5” to 2”

    If I went with a 6112 and have a Pelfrybilt steel bumper, would I want to change the spring to a 650/700 lb spring?

    Also, 33's are currently on the truck and I had to do a fair bit of trimming/cutting to ensure they fit without rubbing. If I take preload out and lower the truck a little, will I create new rubbing issues?

    Hard to say for sure about the bumper weight so all I can say is give it a try since the 6112 comes with springs already so you’ve essentially already paid for them.
    I’ve mentioned this in previous threads but your lift height has no relevance to rubbing. As soon as you get in your truck and start driving your tire will ultimately cycle through the travel and at many times be at or below stock “static” height. If and wherever it rubs now it’ll be just the same
