Aftermarket steel IFS skid first. Then mid skid, then transfer case skid. Most people likely never end up using their sliders.

While in Turkey in 1999, along the Syrian border in a CJ5 jeep, I broke the U-Joint on the rear drive shaft. As we had no other transportation and had an extreme need to get back to civilization (about 45 miles from the nearest repair location and no Comm Gear we could use or transmit on at the time) I removed the rear drive shaft, put the jeep in 4x4 and drove the 85 km back to our base camp...I'm sure it was not good for the Jeep, but you do what you have to do to get things done some times.

old thread, but thought I would update it- I finally ordered a front (bash/engine) skid plate and a pair for the control arms/cv boots from ricochetoffroad; 1/4" aluminum

I'll eventually add a few more

got around to installing the front bash plate and LCA plates- very beefy stuff; the oe skid plate covers a lot less and is very thin (mine had a pretty good crease in it)

as luck would have it :) I took a pretty good rock on the way elk hunting this past fall, barely put a scratch on the plate- I know it would have wreaked havoc with the thin oe one
