Super aggressive(dumb as hell lol) and can get huge in small streams.

Also forbidden to target in most of their native range at least south of the border

I saw the name, was just going to say it looks like a stonefly pattern.

Saw this guy the other day on my window. Was nowhere near a stream or creek.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It looks like a well rounded kit and the price is $0.65ish a fly. That's pretty good. The only other place I know that can touch that price is Big Y Fly Co.

I love rubber legs. I catch fish on them year-round.
On a side note: anyone use the fly rod for red fish in here? Was able to sight fish for a big red on an oyster bed in the creeks in Charleston this past weekend. Caught it on essentially a large trout rod...medium tackle basically. Can only imagine the fight it would have put up on a fly rod.

For sure, yea it seemed like a good kit and the price was cheap enough. I imagine I'll loose some flies here and there. Makes it less painful when each fly isn't a few bucks

I’ve only been fishing for reds a couple times. They’re a freakin blast, though. The first one was in the harbor, just drowning cut bait. This one I pulled a rapala by its face and got to watch the eat. I’d love to try it on the fly.

Do it! Striped Bass are a blast. Sight fishing for them in the shallows/sand at low tide with a crab pattern is killer.

I know it’s not the right thread since it was spinning gear, but this is the 35” red. Probably 30+ lbs. on a 2000 series reel and 7’6” rod...

I keep my gear really simple for saltwater. One Plan D fly box holds all my flies. Just straight 25lb fluoro for leaders. Everything fits in a pocket.

    Beauty!

That's about the size of a big cow Striper.

I fished for Red Fish a lot when I was in Pensacola attending college...back in the late 90's.

I fish around Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana a few times a year with my family and go to PCB every few years. A TFO BVK 8wt is what I got since I do it so infrequent. It's a great budget rod.

    Stock. Lots of mending.
I caught my first fish with a San Juan worm. It was a 3" (the fish). The worm was 4. I spent many hours tying San Juan worms after that moment. I have many San Juan worms...

I’ll check it out. I’m the same way - won’t be doing it frequently at all. Maybe 2-3 days a year, if that.

I've only caught them surf fishing but they are on my list for on the fly. I have a Mojo Bass 8wt 9.5' I use for bass. It's what I plan on using whne the time comes.
I want to learn to tie those crab patterns.
    I like squirmy worms myself.
