UTV traffic was annoying. People would approach this section and try to turn around. We got to this point:
    82AADC2D-B208-4C62-BCA8-23E237A73065.jpg
and I think there were about 4-5 UTVs trying to turn around. :annoyed:

Yep. Sounds about right. It’s too bad because that’s a fun little trail.

Here’s your Summit County open trail report. Called the FS this morning and they said all gates were open around Montezuma, other than red cone.

Webster: Clear from Montezuma side, cornice is still ginormous.
Red Cone: Saw what looked like utvs on top, they went back the way they came. That gate would be hard to get around, so may be open and the FS was mistaken :notsure:
Radical: clear to just below the cabin, above the chute.
Deer Creek: Open to the top of radical and to the St John/Swan intersection.
St John: Didn’t run it but saw folks on the ridge, giant snow field right at the Swan intersection.
Middle Swan: Snow patch right below ridge line, likely could have made it through but was solo and not worth the risk, should be good by this weekend.
    Peru: Open to the mines.

Went up Medano Pass this weekend. Maybe I was naive but I didn't expect it to be as busy as it was. Next time I'd probably plan to do that trip in the middle of the week. The dunes were also a zoo...

always good camping out there, putting on a slide in camper soon too. I live in breck so we're in CB pretty much every weekend since it's only 2.5 hours (now that cottonwood is paved) away.

looks like a great time on some sick bikes. any recommendations on areas to camp and ride down there? CB has been on my list for awhile and hopefully i can spend some time down there in a couple weeks. haven't ridden the trails or evolution so super open to suggestions. do you ride to the trails from camp? anywhere there is water nearby? I was down in the area a couple years ago but didn't know where to camp and drove like 30 min SW of Gunni to find a spot. there surely has to be something closer right?

Just go out slate road or Washington gulch, they’re both right out of town and have killer views. There’s not always a ton of rides from camp but it also depends on how much you want to pedal. I camp in Washington gulch and do a loop up to 403 and 401 then back all the time. Or you can camp up brush creek and ride teocalli loop from camp easily. Cement creek also has good camping and you can ride trails like block n tackle, star pass, etc. from camp

Stayed in Silverton this past weekend and did Ophir Pass/Alta Lakes, Imogene Pass, Yankee Boy, Engineer Pass, and Cinnamon Pass. Everything was open but we could only make it to just below the loop on Yankee Boy because of snow. Bummer but the drive to that point was still worth it! We did Engineer on Sunday and went through the area where a Jeep slid off the trail just a little before that accident happened. All in all it was a fantastic weekend and we got to tick off another area of the state we've been wanting to explore.

Yeah big name places are always crowded, the key is to find not big named places and its a huge state.

Only if this happened. i blame all this on social media. used to be a lot harder when all you had was maps and you actually had to go and investigate and find these cool places and ask for advice from the old timers.

Used to be able to avoid the riff raff by doing more difficult trails but even those are getting packed with SXS
