I hurt my back and couldn't drive my truck for 2.5 months, and started it yesterday, and it misses terrible, and only will idle with foot on the gas, and the check engine light is flashing rapidly now as well. Never had any issues ever with this truck since purchased brand new until it sat. Any ideas, really don't want to drive it anywhere, and don't think it would make it anywhere as well. thanks for your input in advance.

    Welcome !!
It does help to know just what year and drive train

Kinda hard to do much work on these Trucks without a Code reader.

Flashing MIL means danger serious problem.

The code will point you in the correct direction .

Mouse nest in the Air intake or Air Box restricting air flow quite common

Evil Rodents Chewing on wires .

    One of the sensors corroded

2001 Tacoma 4x4 v6 engine, thanks. It is always been garaged, so don't know how those evil little squirrels could get to it.

Scan your DTC's and you'll know where to look. Did it idle rough immediately or after it warmed up a touch?

Sounds like bad gas (and not the Taco Bell kind). Stabilize or syphon the old stuff and push some fresh gas in there, try again

The idle was rough immediately as soon as i started it, and had to keep foot on pedal to keep it running. It also was a bit hard to start but i figured that was from sitting so long. i got a code reader, and will try that. I'll try syphoning the gas out as well after the check on the code reader. i'm a bit nervous to even run it again until i find the issue. Don't want to ruin the motor. Thank you guys, I really appreciate your input.

i don't know, but since it ran perfect until it sat for 2.5 months, that's why i'm assuming injectors clogged? Plugs and wires were all new 6 months ago. I thought buying a code reader would actually say whats going on, but it just made it obvious that it is running on 3 cylinders instead of 6. Do you thing syphoning the gas and putting new gas in will clear it up? Anyone know? Thank you

Have you opened the hood for a visual inspection of things, particularly wiring?

Can't siphon the gas out of tank, can't get the hose down all the way. Maybe add 91 0ctane to the existing fuel and some techron fuel injector cleaner? What do you guys think of that for trying to get it smooth again?

Could be a vacuum line. Check for cracked or loose hoses

    Just some stuff...
Maybe pull your plug wires to make sure you're getting a spark. Wouldn't be the first time wires went bad. Easiest stuff first.

I’d do a really good inspection for eaten wires. Smell the gas but gas can sit 2.5 months it shouldnt be bad. Not that it couldn’t be. My gut says a critter got in there somewhere.

Get a friend. Start popping spark plug wires. Try to track it down to an offending cylinder or two. If you find any, start the search there.
2.5 months is pretty short for bad gas.
