    43,000k on odometer...

Is it better to just wait and save the 8-9k for a new one?

My personal opinion is that if you can save money, get a new one. I have a 2017 and its a good year truck.. You can get a different model too, like a TRD Sport or Off Road.. Keep in mind that new model trucks after 2017 came with few added futures like the lane change warning etc.

Personally, I would pay a little more for a 2018 or 19. I would think you could get a 20 SR5 with good negotiating for less than you think.

That’s too much for an SR5

It's on the higher end of the mileage range for a 2017 in my book. It should be in very good shape cosmetically and mechanically for that price. I'd try to pay a little less, but the nice thing is at this point you know what you are getting. The 2017s escaped the fuel pump issue too, I think. We can't speak to your financial situation, or how it may change in the future, but I would recommend buying what you need and can afford, and what you think you will need and will be able to afford.

Rough math follows : the 3 year lease on my $43k 2017 DCSB V6 4x4 Sport with premium package, tech package, and TRD exhaust ends this October and the balloon payment will be something like $24,500. That's about 57% of original cost. Using the specs you listed for the SR5 and pricing it as a 2020 on Toyotas build it site shows a price of $35,700. If leased using the 57% depreciation from my truck, the SR5 balloon payment would be $20,350.

Baloon payments are not what vehicles are worth as dealerships want turned in leases to be profitable when they sell them, but I think a $6350 (24%) diffrence is a bit of a stretch. If you can haggle it down 3k to 23,700 I think you would be much closer to what it's worth. Also, someone here that works a dealership can probably give more accurate numbers.

I just paid 27,800 on a 2017 Double Cab TRD offroad, 6 sp manual 4x4. 43k miles. I am tickled. I see a few a couple hundred cheaper. But I got 3000 more than my truck booked for. It was actually worth what I got. New truck old truck20200525_135241.jpg 20160416_165710_Richtone(HDR).jpg

What I am getting at is that sounds like a fair deal to me, and you would hard pressed to find a better truck. I mean unless you found a TrD Offroad in blazin blue mica. LOL.

    These are awesome trucks.

Also I walked out on a new 2020 trd offroad over destination charge, and 7000 trade in on my truck. People leave that destination charge out of their calculations of cost alot.

I figured letting somebody else pay that was the way to go for me.

All new vehicles depreciate the most in the first two years...I’d take the 17’ as the 8-9k looks better in your pocket than sitting in the driveway.

Thank you all. Going to see if I can get the price down.

Buying it for my business. I own a small gym, and I can only train groups outside right now.

In April, I paid 27k for my 2017 double cab TRD sport 4x4 6sp with 27k miles on it. Its the quicksand color. Since then, i have been looking at comparable Tacomas and i got a really good deal on mine. Just got to search and search for what your looking for.
