My 17' Tacoma TRDOR Progression (most of it)

Never thought about doing a (build thread) before, but as I looked through years of Pics I thought it would be nice to show how I arrived where I am at.

Bought my 17 TRDOR on 9/18/17, I had special ordered it with no options and a Manual Trans.



Had them throw a TRD Pro grille in with the deal, so that afternoon it began...

I de-badged, painted the chrome bumper covers, and put in the Pro front






Oh yea, also swapped the Tonnau cover from my 16' along with the floor mats.

The next week we were off to Fernandina Beach



After getting home from vacation I was back at it...first order of business was painting the pinch weld (on a white truck it looks ugly)




Oh and the wheels and tires I had on my 16' got put on Believe they were 255/75/17 the stock ones that came off the Rubicons, and some Ultra Wheels

Pretty sure I installed the Rav4 Drivers mirror around this same time (no pics)

Ordered up the Suspension, JBA UCA's, Bilstein 6112 front and 5160 rear, Also got the OME Dakar Medium pack for the rear...and did the ECGS Bushing for the drivers side Diff




So with new suspension ones needs bigger meats....right?

ordered a set of FN countersteer offroads 16" and got some 285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxxs




Sometime around here I also had the Windows Ceramic Tinted

I started prepping for the next mod and it would prove to be the single most expensive item



Hmm, bed stiffners?? yep




Ta-Da!! Leer RCC cap, its a contractor grade so reinforced..also has the side toolbox...this sucka will support a RTT no prob. Didn't like the White panels so wrapped them and added carpet to the toolbox. Also had bolt locks on the handles to stuff would stay secure

So what's next?? lots...but first PRINSU!!



If your eyes are sharp and you were paying attention you may have noticed that those are not ST Maxx's. And so this was the 4th set of tires this truck has seen...to this point...lol. 265/75/16 Toyo Open Country ATII C-rated. Long of the short the ST's were terrible, heavy, wouldn't balance, and would pull the truck to the right...The Toyo's were great (at least for now)

Got a ARB awning just in time for a beach trip




Added a set of Traction Boards also ditched the TRD 4x4 sticker on the back

Pretty sure around this time I did the Kicker Speaker upgrade and added Noico or something sound deadener to the doors...made a huge difference in sound quality

Next few mods are missing pics, but the short story is SOS front bumper with Warn winch, Mobtown skids and sliders. Did most of these at a mod day so someone somewhere has pics

So being how I am obsessed with tires, the next obvious step was.....

So getting back to them tires...



This time went with MasterCraft Courser CXT in 255/85/16 they are some of the tallest and widest of the 255 offerings so don't look skinny at all...and the weight isn't too shabby. Really like this Tire



With adding all the armor and such, adjustments had to be made...upped the front springs to eibach 700# from 600# and lowered the preload on the shocks a notch...rides about perfect now..and in the rear had to get the extra leaf for the Dakar pack to make it into a heavy pack.

Bumper is a SOS with rear Swingout, this was Eddys first design, short story...there were some issues...suggestions were made...new bumper was built and now all his rears are rock solid and great...new bumper on pics later...looks about the same.

Lets Go Camping!! This was a GA Tacoma event up on Hawk Mt. so much fun even though it was cold, wet and windy...met some great people that I'm still friends with

Uh oh, what happened??



Well the FJ looked so good with the Wheels and Tires from the Taco I just couldn't bear to put them back on so yea it's now got its 6th set of rubber on it in under 30K miles. Factory TRD Pro wheels and tires...set of 5 Tires are Falken Wildpeak 265/75/16.

See what I mean about the FJ...that thing can wheel

Well that's pretty much how it sits right now....Just under 30K miles...and has come a long way. I love my Tacoma and its build suits me for my life and adventures...couldn't think of a better place than TW, have met so many awesome people that will be lifelong friends
