AAL or Block for 1 to 1.5 Lift

Getting ready to do a Bilstein 5100 2/1 lift. Never carry anything heavy in bed of truck. How stiff will an AAL make the back if it’s empty all the time? Should I go with a block instead?

Im only looking for 1 to 1.5 inches of lift in the back.

 

Blocks are fine, I prefer them for 1" unloaded.

I find AAL's make it bouncier in the rear unloaded. Even with the 5100's.

 

either is fine really. if you plan to offroad more, the AAL might be a better option. I have had both, had a 1inch block before - no complaints. Now have the 1.5 wheelers 3 leaf AAL with overload in. 2'' lift.

 

I have aal in the back and drive mostly empty.
Imho, the back is not stiff. Going over bumps does not produce any jarring effects. Those 5100 are dealing with bobbing
Truck is well planted front and back and drives no different than w/o aal

 

Appreciate the input! I do venture down some fairly rough roads and have bottomed-out the back pretty harshly multiple times. Sounds like AAL maybe the way to go for some extra travel.

 

I'd do AAL and keep the overload in.

 

wheelers 1.5” aal.Overload in. Imo not stiff. That’s in the eye of the beholder. More payload etc. It’s a truck used like one. Also you can use factory ubolts always a plus

 

AAL all the way,forget the blocks.

 

I was wheeling with a friend in the 90's, who was running 4 inch blocks on his Chevy and he shit a block out on the trail. This has kept me steering clear of blocks from then until now. I will be doing AAL's or full spring pack when I lift my truck.

 

I’d definitely go AAL. The unloaded ride is not really any worse than stock. I ran mine without the overload but if you leave it in (like said above) ride height will be 1/2” higher because of the leaf thickness.
