So with a bypass installed, GPS antenne disconnected on the back of the headunit, and pink VSS wire disconnected I am able to hear and watch YouTube videos while driving. I have done a few small trips around the neighborhood (each trip about 5 minutes each) and it works every single time. I still need to experiment with long trip driving. The only "error" code I get so far is when you initially start your truck and the headunit boots up, you will get the "Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited" message 3 times back to back. Each "error" message will pop up for 1 second each. Other then that, it works.

Cool! . I’m wondering if u will see any VSS warnings. Also any difference in the way waze works with CarPlay? Heard something about the gps not being as accurate? Don’t see how if it’s getting it from the phone? Need like a 1/2-1 hour drive to see how it acts. Thanks. Keep us updated.

Is anyone else experiencing poor wireless CarPlay at times? Mine cuts out depending on where I’m at, presumably due to interference from other WiFi sources.

And my Siri/ call quality is very poor except during navigation. Anyone else?

I only use wired carplay. Has worked well without cutting out. The Siri is HORRIBLE sounding, and phone calls are ok. Still not great. I was really thinking about calling pioneer to discuss these issues. Not a huge priority though.

Ok so. Second time in 2 weeks Playing music using CarPlay and entire unit just shuts off and restarts. Anyone else see this happen? First time I pulled it out and checked all connections. Soldered any of them that were just crimped. Don’t think that had anything to do with it. Hope this doesn’t become an issue. I am using the update that came out a week or 2 ago. Don’t Remember

That happen to me once already. Also, sometimes when I start my YouTube app on the headunit, I get a blank white screen.

Happened to me a few times pre-update. It’s only happened once post update.

Yesterday my steering wheel volume wouldn’t work. I had to turn off my truck to reboot the system.

Yea I guess I do need to remember these are basically android tablets. We’ll see if it continues. I drive about 60 miles a day with CarPlay on with waze and Amazon music. So you wouldn’t sweat it then?

Hopefully it’s just glitches because it’s a new system and they release regular firmware updates to correct these issues. I do around 40 daily with CarPlay, Waze and either SXM, Overcast or Apple Music.

Meh...I have a bypass installed but it’s not exactly a high priority for me.

I had the reboot issue as well, looks like it’s an issue with power going through the maestro to the head unit. I did this fix and no reboots after a week

Cool! I read this differently though. He says do it at the T harness. You have taken it from one of the other little harnesses. Shouldn’t it go from the red/black power wire on the main t harness directly to the pioneer red? Or is this the only red/black available? Also the one u cut doesn’t need power anymore? Just want to make sure I am doing it correctly. Thanks

I did it exactly like the photo shows and it solved my random reboots. All of it is done on the Maestro T harness.

Didn’t fix my Siri or wireless CarPlay or crappy call quality problems though lol

Correct, except that’s not the blue connector it’s black if I remember right. Only 3 thicker gauge wires in it red, yellow, and black.

Brown is the correct one. Maybe a bad maestro unit?
