Gotta say, I am impressed with this Dometic fridge. It is too fucking big, but I tend to overbuy shit, so my fault. I wanted the two compartment version so I could have frozen food options. I ran a 110V extension cord out to the truck yesterday and fired it up. Inside of the fridge was 80f when I turned it on. It was down to 44 in both compartments in no time. This morning I unplugged it so it would run off the truck, and bumped the freezer part down to 18f so I could pick up ice cream tonight after work. It was down to temp by the time I got to work. I would have thought it would take longer to cool down but it is really fast.

Is the fridge empty? It'll have to work a lot harder to keep the compartments cool which in turn will be more strain on your battery. Just as a heads up. But yeah, dometics are the best.

Yeah, no thermal heatsink action when empty. That is why I ran 110V out to it initially. It is sitting empty now, but will be filled up on the way home tonight.

I do the same when I'm prepping for a trip. Plug into 110 and get it chilled, and then load with food eventually. I love that if plugged into both 110 and 12v, it defaults to 110.

Tomorrow is supposed to be hot as balls. I might sell ice cream out of my truck at the dropzone to fund my skydiving habit. LOL

Have you had ice cream in it before? I had a buddy with a DZ and set the freezer to high twenties. The ice cream melted. Apparently home freezers are around 0 degrees, so I'm curious if 18 is enough.

I have but it was just for the 30 min ride home from the store. I know real ice CREAM vs what most people call ice cream made from milk needs to be colder to freeze fully. So that might have been it. High twenties is pretty close to 32, so just the variance between different parts of the freezer and calibration of the thermometer could cause that I would think. I thought home freezers were in the teens, I'll have to throw a thermometer in mine to see.

They're not even a little good. They'll sit there until I throw them away eventually.
