My frustration for the week--Not Tacoma related.

I needed to put new tires on a 12 speed bike that Im putting on the road-sidewalk so i can ride with the grand Kids.
The frustration is this, I needed a tube (27 x 1 1/4 ) so off to the neighborhood Wall Mart, no only didn't have any tubes but no bicycles anywhere.

A glutton for punishment I made 4 more visits to area Wall Marts --no luck.

Went to the local Trek Corporation Bicycle Newington Ct. store and was told that they didn't want any customers in the store in a snarky tone , I said thank you and started to walk out of the store as they started laughing at me. That pissed me off and I kept walking . If they used a different tone I maybe consider making a purchase there in the future. NOT going to happen.

The thing is they had no clue as to if I was going to buy a $3000.00 bike ,or 10 different bikes, or a $10.00
    purchase.

I guess with lack of sales for 3+ months they forgot how to interact with customers, maybe if I purchased a $3000.00 bike their bottom line might look good on the plus side of the books.

I fixed my frustration (lack of tubes) by taking a tube off of my spare bike until stores restock.

Rant over , and bike on the road-sidewalk .

Time for a couple of cool ones.

Odd that big box stores aren't carrying bikes/bike parts. This is why I just stick to online shopping (unless you wanted the tube same day).

I saw on the news a while back that people are buying bikes because of the pandemic, especially in areas where the people depend on mass transit. I guess when they can’t buy bikes, you may start seeing more horses. Whoa there big guy, turn left.

First off.... why the hell is this in the 2nd gen section.

Second, the bike industry sales have SKY ROCKETED with everyone at home on their rona vacation. Lack of parts availability and bikes in general at the lower end consumer level has been going on for months now.

Most of those newly purchased bikes will probably be in a garage sale next year. Just like other exercise equipment. When the novelty wears of, they'll just get in the way.

Maybe next time move your finger or mouse up and to the left where it reads ‘forums’, and then scroll to proper forum...without an attitude though.

Everyone is buying bikes so they have something to do with the kiddos or to get around without using public transit. Once bikes sell out, people resort to fixing up whatever they can find. I also noticed a shortage on trampolines and above ground pools.

You said Trex - is that the same thing as Trek?

Another source of frustration is the high-end mtn bike industry keeps changing and inventing new standards for hub width and axle diameter every year or two, quickly depricating high end parts-- frames, hubs, and built wheels-- within a few years. Seems like a good thread for this lol.

I lol'd at the "lack of sales" comment....bike shops and stores are selling more than they ever have before....

There was a run on bikes because people can't go anywhere and so bikes got popular. Stock to replace the run on bikes is slowly catching up, but has also been hard hit by the corona in China.

Sorry but it sounds like you are having a first world karen breakdown, outside activities where you have less risk of catching corona got popular and they sold out quick. Stock to replace them is slowly making their way back here, but still getting bought quickly.

Your mistake is thinking these places aren't having good sales, these places are selling their stock as fast as they can get it through curb side sales and online orders.

Trek is all but sold out of bikes anyway, so its more they have nothing (except tubes maybe) to sell more than not wanting business (which they have plenty of)

I think I have a few spare 27.5 tubes laying around that I dont use anymore. Pay for shipping and their yours.
