2011, so no screen on the radio. Backup camera is only in the mirror.

For reasons that are irrelevant, I want to use a small tablet instead of the mirror screen to view the backup camera.
Tablet has USB input, WIFI, and Bluetooth.

So, can it be done? Maybe in conjunction with the rear camera any time mod?

Can you convert the camera signal to the tablet? Bluetooth would probably work with a dongle . Do you happen to have a extra camera you can try and see if you get an image? If that works then you would have to figure out how to power up the dongle and the mirror camera at the same time

I guess I need to break it down into 2 questions.
A- can i get video of any type transmitted via a bluetooth or wifi device to the tablet (Nexus 7)
B- Can I get the mirror camera signal fed into a wifi or BT device.

Maybe I'll look for an electronics forum

I'm going to say possibly, but with a great deal of effort. And this is only if that USB is 3.0. USB 3.0 is the only USB protocol that can carry a video signal. You might be able to do it over WiFi but that just seems awfully convaluted to me.

The backup camera runs on 6v. Not sure why, but it's a pain to get to work with normal car audio/ video as all are typically 12v. So maybe you could somehow get the stock video feed to a composite out, and then another converter box to take a composite input to USB.

Honestly would be way easier to just get a different camera that will work with the tablet, or do the conversion to get the video to display on the head unit.

    Good luck!

i know they do make cameras that connect via blutooth to an app. Im not sure about converting your current camera but a new one wouldnt be much money and it saves you a whole lotta trouble

Didnt know about the 6 volts.

It's looking like I'll just get a couple (front and rear) of the wireless cams and pair with the tablet. Rear will trigger with backup lights, front I'll put on a switch.
