    Good morning all.

Another evening with a visit from our new neighbor - this time we had a face-off in the driveway. He is a big beautiful black bear but he is now getting used to the dogs and me. Drove him down the drive way only for him to stop turn and start back up - still came out on top but now we know he is not impressed so no more close encounters. He once again went across the road to the neighbors house, got into their trash right on their deck.

Have a great day everyone and be safe..

Something to ponder on this beautiful Thursday:

In early April, author Arundhati Roy published the often-quoted piece ‘The Pandemic is a Portal’ where she writes:

"Nothing could be worse than a return to normality. Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next. We can choose to walk through it, dragging...dead ideas....or we can walk through lightly...ready to imagine another world. And ready to fight for it."

This was shared with me from one of my wife's sisters.

If the BS I’m seeing is an example of this brave new world, I’ll cling to my old ways and violently defend them. If you want the fight you’re supposedly ready for, bring it on.

I did say it was something to ponder. I took my wife's 4-Runner in for the annual Toyo Care to a dealership we like up in Denver (2.5 hours away) because we will not do business with the local dealerships (another time). Everyone at the dealership (staff and clients) wore masks, kept social distancing were polite and pleasant. In heading home I stopped in a very small town to get gas, still everyone pleasant and wearing masks and keeping distance while communicating. I get back into our county and stopped at the local Tractor Supply for a lawnmower part. No one was wearing a mask or keeping their distance plus I was confronted - again - for wearing a mask - everyone in our small county thinks this is all a hoax and mad at our state Gov for imposing restrictions for our safety. Funny thing (really not) our county was one of the lowest for cases and now is leading the way with this new resurgence a lot of these states are experiencing.

    Morning all:
Just saw that PA is again requiring masks to be worn while in stores etc., maybe not a cure all but better than nothing.
Some never stopped wearing them for the short period when they weren't required, I don't blame them, this isn't over by a long shot.

Just read this: People in Tuscaloosa AL are holding Covid parties, seems they attend a gathering with a person known to have Covid 19, the first one to get infected that attended the party receives a cash payment from the ticket sales----IDIOTS, MORONS, IMBICILES, take your choice!

:annoyed: BEAR, did someone say BEAR!
Just went down to the pond to straighten out the drop pipe AGAIN. About a month ago it was tilted North and the pond was down a few inches, then it was tilted South and the pond was down about 2'. When I just went down there the pond was muddy, that means the critter was back there either late last night or early this morning. :annoyed:

Sounds like a nuisance bear. Would fish and game relocate him?

No ear tags yet and due to how remote we are I am not one to report them until they actually get into a home, garage or someones camper. After all I live in their neighborhood. Just trying to combat trash diving (dragging). Today is trash day hence his last two nightly visits.

Where we live they tag them, the third time Wildlife is called they put the bear down. Very seldom (unless a mama) do they relocate them up here.

Happy 4th of July Celebrated Day...or for many people still working, a day off!!! It's a good day to avoid the stores! I'm going to continue my brush-clearing project here at the farm this morning and enjoy an adult beverage by the pool this afternoon. This retirement life is growing on me.

    Enjoy and be safe!!

Welp...today is the day. I'm putting my bike on the showroom floor for sale.
I've seen way too much as far as wrecked bikes go!

Good Morning Folks. Happy Independence Day Eve:).

Nice clean looking bike Harry. Sad to see you selling your bike, but on a safety note, with the way some people drive out there, sometimes 4 wheels on the road aren't safe. Hope it all works out for you.

Good morning all, like the Col will be outside working on more mitigation. Plus I need to box scrape the drive, got a few ruts from the last heavy rain.

No visits last night from our new neighbor. Have a great day everyone - be safe

I rode my first motorcycle, okay it was a mini-bike, 50 years ago. I know the day's coming when I'll have to sell mine but right now I'm looking at possibly another bike. I gave my oldest son my race bike a couple years ago, decided my back couldn't take the single track trails anymore and definitely not the race pace. But I'm not ready to give up my adventure bike, too many backroads and dirt roads still calling my name.

Happy 4th of July!! Looks like another beautiful day for us. Yesterday was gorgeous!!

Had an interesting experience early this AM. We live in northeast PA on a dirt road. Down the road from us, close to where it connects to the State road, a couple from NY owns a piece of property in the woods. They "vacation" there by putting up a tent and camping - maybe 4 times during the summer. I noticed they were there yesterday with two tents this time - later another family member saw there were two cars parked along the edge of the woods. This morning, I was awakened by two shots that came from the vicinity of their campsite just before 3AM....hopefully they were just taking care of a raccoon or possum going through the trash.

I had a neighbor years ago that would step out, squeeze off a few rounds every now and then. He said it helps keep everyone honest. Once a year or so, I would take him to town, so he could buy another box of ammo.

He's gone now, but I continue his preventative maintenance schedule. I can feel him looking down and smiling.

Happy 4th, seems odd to me to be home. I have worked events over the 4th for over 30 years. It is all good, have a great and safe day everyone.

Not sure about shooting at 0300 - we have a neighboring cabin that is rented from time-to-time for a long weekend and have experienced shooting at wee hours of the morning. Had to call the sheriff a few years ago as one round went into our house - the party had gotten out of hand and they were just shooting for over an hour before the cavalry showed up. Be careful might of been just a preliminary celebration or wented to be the first in the neighborhood.

Happy Independence Day, the birthday of our country. The greatest nation in the history of man. This is my wife and my favorite holiday. I thank God every day that I was born and live in this wonderful country. Fly Old Glory today and show your pride in America, land of the free, home of the brave. God bless America!
