I made the dumb mistake of backing up with my left side rear door open and it caught a post and hyperextended my door. It will shut ok but it bent the door frame and brace inside and now there is a large dent on the exterior panel and the window won't roll all the way down.
I've already taken the interior panel off and tried to fix it, but no luck. A body shop quoted me about $800+ to fix everything.
I found a replacement door off a 2016 TRD sport in the same Black 202 color as mine. It is in great condition and would be around $600. Can anyone tell me if this would be a direct replacement for my 2017 model? I feel like this is the way to go if it would be an exact fit/match.

Painter here no guarantees color will match even if same color. Color variance on vehicles is always an issue.

It will bolt right up, hopefully the paint match will be about the same but no guarantee

You cant view the door in person? My truck in pic had a new rear door installed when relatively new. A piece of metal on the highway punctured it. The seller included the ins quote and toyota dealer work order. It is impossible to tell it was replaced until I took the inner panel off to install speakers

Unfortunately I can’t see it in person without driving several hundred miles

Good luck did you try car-part.com for a closer vehicle?

Is the quote of $800 from the body shop to replace with a new door or just repair? Doesnt sound like the door could be repaired and that would be a replacement door and paint so i would just spend the extra $200. Color match will be better, no unknown damage you cant see and it will come with a guarantee. Worth the extra $200 IMO. You may be paying more then $200 to have it repainted if it doesnt match. If it was half ($400), then i would consider it.

@TacoTruck808 Quote was actually closer to $750 to repair the large dent and it would need to be repainted. They are pretty reputable body shop and have done work on my other vehicle but I thought that was a little too high $ for the repair, that's why I've been looking at replacement doors.
I'm tempted to just submit it to my insurance and pay the $500 deductible.

That's correct, door off a different Tacoma most likely isn't going to match, plus you have to drive several hundred miles to get it, then have to do the work yourself?
Doesn't make any sense to me, just take it to the shop. And why not submit it to your insurance company, that's what insurance is for.
