    Aisin is fine.
If you want to test it first, ACTUALLY first thing would be replace the vac lines associated with EGR and that VSV and the modulator. If new or cleared out lines don't take care of P0401 which is EGR insufficient flow, which means the ECM has detected low EGR temperature which means not enough EGR exhaust is making it back to that temp sensor, or EGR temp sensor is failed (not as likely). Those vac lines attached to modulator and VSV are part of the control of THE EGR system. The vac lines have to be clear, the modulator has to hold vacuum, and the VSV has to switch when 12VDC is applied to it.
Also that code, the insufficient EGR flow one, can be caused by carbon and crap built up at the EGR valve itself too.
I wonder if their is a good video on doing this? It's not difficult but can be time consuming and maybe a lil overwhelming for a younger or lesser experienced wrench. Wish you were out here. Be easy peasy lemon squeezey. That's a common DTC with Toyota and especially 80 series Land Cruisers too. So I've definitely had a bit of experience with it. On 3 seperate Yotas too. :D

    Not a good idea.
Maybe it is for you, but for rest of us or 99.9% of us it's easier and better and more feasible to just get it working correctly.
Not up for debate either. :D

It’s worth the $40 for the part and I’ll get new hoses when I swap it out. Rather do all at once

    4 run, 2 don't
Yeah a lot of people don't realize the make up of their legs, etc.

That's why it's a bad idea having mesh at all in a tarantula enclosure.

That's PCV delete but you have to drill a hole in oil cap or add a quart every 10 mi.
