So the

$1,100 DMH-WC6600NEX 9" Capacitive Touchscreen, Modular Chassis – Wireless & Wired Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, HD Radio, FLAC, Backup Camera, Hi-Volt RCA

DMH-WC6600NEX was sold out for the past few weeks at Crutchfield, and since I finally have a few days off, I decided to just pull the trigger and get the DMH-WT7600NEX instead.

Everything works, except for the error message stating that the VSS wire is not connected. I don't understand, as it is connected, and I measured continuity on the wire, to the Maestro RR. When I'm driving, the Vehicle screen with ODBII gauges, is able to show the actual car speed. If anyone has any suggestions as to what may be causing this error, please let me know.

I also used my original Anytime Camera Mod. I have a physical switch in the cubby next to the steering wheel, and I find it easier to engage than to go through the radio menu. This is especially handy when switching to the front facing camera.

I love this unit. If you are more patient then I am, I would go for the DMH-WC6600NEX. That one is probably a lot easier to fit the car.
I used the brackets from the "American International TOYK974 Dash Kit". I mounted the head unit in the top position, modified the screw holes only slightly, and I got the whole thing to fit in the original bezel.
I forgot to order the GPS antenna adapter, so I re-used the factory one. Easy to do, with a small screw driver, you can pop the plastic of the cable. Do the same for the Pioneer plug, and re-assemble. Plugs-in just fine!
Initially I forgot to also connect the blue wire on the antenna plug.... really bad reception. Once I connected that to the blue wire in in the Pioneer wire-loom (also to power the amp), it works like a champ.

Oh, and the parking brake bypass works

 

So I’ve been driving a couple days with the vss and gps antenna disconnected. I do have a triple pulse bypass installed because I already had one from my last unit. I am able to keep video playing and the only message I get once in a while is (gps antenna not connected. Connect gps antenna). Only comes up once per drive. I did re route the red ACC wire straight from the pioneer harness to just behind where the maestro harness meets the oem harness. I did the tap on the maestro side. We will see if this does in fact keep the unit from randomly resetting. Only been 3 days since doing this.

 

Also if anyone finds a way to put CarPlay on the lower right box of the main screen let me know. Looks like it only allows for what it shows across the bottom. Would like to have YouTube going on the big box on the left, clock on top right and waze from CarPlay on lower right.

Even with bypass, the gps antenna wire and vss wire have to be disconnected to have video while moving

 

Works on a 7600, which is the same, except for how the screen attaches.

 

according to his post that I’m quoting there that’s not true. Go back and read it - software override works regardless of brake vss gps

 

I did the procedure and it worked, got the Set On message. I haven’t actually tried video while moving, it’s the 4th and I’m at the pool a few beers deep already. Will try it tomorrow!

 

Don't think it works on the x600's from what I have researched but hope it does. Only thing that I have found to work is no vss and no GPS with a triple pulse bypass.

No but I was on the reddit thread on the 7600. They tried it and it doesn't work (if it's the software bypass for the avh systems) . That's how we found the only working method with vss and GPS disconnected w/bypass. I don't have the system hopefully it works
