What to do about tick (blood sucking kind)

Don’t sweat it man. You’re lucky you felt it crawling before it latched on!! If you managed to get a tick on you though, make sure you take a hot shower tonight and scrub your legs for any chiggers. That’s where the real fun starts!!

 

Yeah OP sounds like a city boy but you don’t need to make it about growing a pair of balls. Shits weird when it first happens! I remember the first time I caught an alligator gar when I was fishing as a little kid. Shit freaked me out!! Now it’s not a big deal.

You’re all good brother, I had 4 ticks on my arm on my trip. 1 latched. Luckily got them off very quickly and one out. And then fried them in my electric wand haha.

 

Ticks I can deal with. Leeches on the other hand. (involuntary shiver) Too many memories of places long ago and far away.

 

What’s wrong with scorpions? Living in south Texas we even get them inside our house. My backyard backs up to a small forest. I’ve been stung by them a couple times. A bee sting is worse in my opinion.

 

100% ... but one good thing is that if the tick lands on you and bites you, it will not transmit Lyme disease right away. You have roughly 36 hours before it starts to suck your blood -- and then transmit the disease in the process. To remove, make sure you use a good pair of tweezers and pull the body straight out and you will be fine. Still scary. I have known three people with Lyme's -- one nearly died (very scary), one was so weak she couldn't get out of bed for months and the other had the big ring but seemed totally fine.

From the CDC: "In most cases, the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted."

Reminds me of the last river camping trip I did, we found out the river was infested with tiny leeches, my buddy had them all over his "plums" after swimming. I laughed so hard.

Alright, that may have been a little harsh. I just wonder what op would do in around here in spider season. Can't walk to your truck in morning without walking through 5 spider webs.

Ever had a spider crawl up your earlobe halfway through your commute to work? Now thatll give you twitches for the rest of the day. I've flicked so many of those spiders off me in my truck and have never seen them again...now I wonder where they all went?

While I agree you should forget about it, I dont agree with the "Grow a pair and don't freak out over the little bug in your truck."

Last year a single mosquito bit me, I came down with west nile virus and was in the hospital for 11 days paralyzed from the waist down. Now nearly a year later I am just getting back to being able to walk. I still am sore most of the time, I get tired easy and my legs just dont work the way they used to. I have to sleep with a heating blanket (even in the summer) because my body doesnt regulate its temp anymore.

So, a little bug can mess things up pretty bad. But chances are that tick is long gone.

 

I’d bug bomb that sucker to the gates of hell!
