Took her off road first time yesterday. Have had her for two weeks.

What am I looking at here? Cause for concern?

Looks like the axle boot is torn and threw grease everywhere

easier to replace the entire cv axle than to rebuild an already old one. If you do that, here’s a tip- there’s a sweet spot where a pry bar will pop it right out, just rotate and pry until you find it. Some people go nuts slinging hammers and stuff...haven’t found that necessary.

However, don't delay long on the repair/replacement.

Now that the joint is/can be contaminated, it won't last too long. And you really don't want that to break on or off the road. Might as well examine the other side while you are at it. If it's checked or flaky, it won't be far behind it's brother.

They aren't crazy expensive, may as well do both.

I've done those cv axles a dozen times in my truck. Just keep blowing through the boots due to lift angle. Something to keep in mind if you're lifted. It's always the inside boots too. I just keep throwing $60 napa axles in it after driving on the torn boot for so long.

If it's your first time doing it then give yourself at least a full day. Popping the axle out and putting it back in is pretty tedious
