I've seen a few posts lately (and videos) about greasing the driveshaft on the 4WD trucks. I seem to recall reading long ago that that wasn't necessary on the prerunner, but have been unable to find anything online to confirm. Looked around this morning and didn't find any zerks. Am I blind, or does the (2013) prerunner not need this maintenance?

If there's no zerks on the caps there's nothing you can do. Someone may have changed them to sealed joints. My front shaft doesn't have any zerks on it and there's no records of a drive shaft service.

Short answer, crawl under and look.

It was hit or miss with the zerks on the PreRunner.
The early 2.7 engine trucks just about all had them.
The 4.0 may/or may not have them. It seemed that the later the year model, the less chance you had of them being there.

Most manufacturers do not provide grease zerks on U joints. It's the case of "save $1 per vehicle on a million vehicles, that's a million dollar savings". For vehicles that do come with zerks, that's a bonus. No one knows how Toyota decided which ones they put zerks in and which ones they didn't. Kind of like the random choice on which Tacos got DTRL and which ones didn't.

As the others stated, you will have to look and see. My 2012 Prerunner does have zerk fittings and I grease them every oil change.

My 2015 4.0L PreRunner has no zerks. But as stated, get underneath and look around.
Wifes 2014 2WD 4Runner has one on each end of the drive shaft. Some models have multiple zerks on both ends.
    Go figure?

As mentioned if it has grease zerk fittings grease it. If not then do nothing.
My 08 has fittings at every joint I was offered tsb driveshaft during the frame swap.
The tech and I agreed it was better to keep what I have. Half of my rust prevention is the grease slung from greasing them. Joking I take rust very seriously.
My 08 has 190k and I wouldn’t hesitate to road trip at the drop of a hat.

My 2009 PreRunner does not have grease fittings on the drive line.
