the pre-drilled holes on the rack line up perfectly with the pre-drilled holes in the fake max tracks. Bonus.

So after weeding through only a few of the almost 50 pages here I gather the consensus on this rack is that it’s pretty good especially at the price point, but requires some mods or “tricks” to reduce noise. Can anybody point out exactly what mods those are? Thanks in advance.

Some of the other members have recommended the bulb seal (an automotive gasket) , which can be purchased on Amazon. The second recommendation is to mount the rack on the high setting in the rear and the low setting on the front of the rack to make it more aerodynamic. Personally, Ive always driven a vehicle throughout my career that had a roofrack so Im used to the sound. No matter what you put on your roof, unless its an airplane wing, it is going to make sound when youre traveling up the road. That being said, the bulb seal is cheap and is more of an insurance policy to keep your rack from scratching your roof. I plan to reset my rack to make it set on the same height front and rear because Im not sure if that's making a difference. Lastly, I bought mine on amazon. They rack is supposed to have 5 crossbars, each with a different size. For the sake of making this easy, they are labeled 1-5. They sent me 1,1,3,4,5 (no number 2 crossbar) so I complained to amazon and they refunded ALL MY MONEY. Therefore, I love the rack and can't complain not even a little bit.

Has anyone used the lights that came with the rack as ditch lights mounts on the hood with brackets? Im wondering if they will work or will be to big to open the hood if I mount them.

They work, they're just typical 3" square led pods.

you are correct. I put the bulb seal (with 3M wrap under to protect the paint), made the front lower than the back, AND filled in the cutouts in the front fairing with some aluminum sheeting. Even with those things it’s still noisy past 40mph. I had a very quiet Lexus before the Tacoma so I may be more sensitive than others. That being said I love the damn thing and my only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner. After a month or so I got used to the noise and don’t notice it much anymore. I do keep my volume about 5 digits higher these days.

Looks like it will be in stock in 4-5 days

so what do I really need to do to get rid of the wind noise. That’s the only hurdle that is stopping me

3" lift. TRD wheels. Hooke Road Roof Rack.
I'm curious if anyone has been able to mount anything to their Hooke Road Roof Rack? I tried mounting a kayak rack, but it sits to close to the roof to get the bolts and nuts on. Has anyone mounted something similar and how did you do it. Are there any racks that can be bolted directly to the cross bars?

I mounted an awning to the cross bars, just made some angle and used the existing holes.

Anyone near San Diego looking to pick this rack up? I’d like to sell mine along with a 4’ awning!

No worries! I just want to switch it up, looking to put a rack on the shell instead and I’m also looking for a bigger awning. Looking to sell both for $250!

I wouldn’t be opposed to shipping it either!
