    From AlabamaWX

UNSETTLED WEATHER THROUGH WEDNESDAY: Moisture levels will rise across Alabama today, and with a weak upper low moving into the state, we expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms by afternoon. It still won’t rain everywhere, but most communities should see a decent shower by the evening hours. Otherwise, the day will be warm and humid with a mix of sun and clouds along with a high in the mid 80s. The average high today at Birmingham is 91.

Look for a mostly cloudy sky tomorrow and Wednesday with occasional showers and a few thunderstorms as the unsettled pattern continues. While the best chance of rain will come during the afternoon and evening hours, a few late night or morning showers can’t be ruled out… highs will remain in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: The upper low will move away from the region, and showers and thunderstorms will become more scattered over the latter half of the week. The sky will be partly sunny, and afternoon highs will rise into the 88-92 degree range.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: For the moment, global models are showing a pretty dry look for Alabama; we expect a good supply of sunshine Saturday and Sunday with only isolated showers… highs will be mostly in the low 90s, right at seasonal averages.

NEXT WEEK: Moisture levels tick up again, and we will mention the typical risk of “scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms” each day. Otherwise, partly sunny days with afternoon highs remaining generally in the low 90s. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS HEATING UP A BIT: Tropical Storm Edouard has formed in the Atlantic, northeast of Bermuda, with sustained winds of 40 mph. It will remain far from land, and should become post-tropical later today.

A strong tropical wave, centered about 650 miles east of the Windward Islands, is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slight development of this system is possible today before environmental conditions become hostile for development on Tuesday. The wave is forecast to move through the Lesser Antilles tomorrow and could produce locally heavy rainfall as well as gusty winds on some of those islands.

And, there is a well defined low this morning in North Florida between Tallahassee and Marianna… this is moving northeast and will remain over land today and tomorrow. This system is expected to evolve into a larger low pressure system and move northeastward, possibly emerging offshore of the Carolinas later this week where environmental conditions are expected to be more conducive for development later this week.

ON THIS DATE IN 1928: A seven-inch hailstone weighing 1.5 pounds fell in Potter Nebraska. With a circumference of 17 inches, this appeared to be the largest hailstone in the world at that time.

we got hit pretty good with some stuff yesterday evening unexpectedly.

I have a big part of a tree down, no damage, and around my neighborhood there was some more extensive tree damage. surprisingly can't find anything on the news sites about it...

Those pop up showers are no joke and they literally come outta nowhere. We had a heavy rain shower come thru about 9pm on July 4th but that was it.

I think these pop ups like you had last night are so frequent around the state this time of year that unless somebody loses a roof or there was significant hail damage nobody bats an eye. They can be very dangerous as you well know though.

living in the jungle of a yard that I have, I have to be very aware of this stuff. the limb/half tree that fell last night could've done some damage but thankfully fell away from the house.

Went to HF yesterday and got this ol' girl on order. They only had it in yellow and orange in stock, so we ordered the Black. Amy wants me to be able to make our future garage into my "LSU space" so she thought the black would look best.

I don't think I've ever seen them do the larger versions during the parking lot sales, just the smaller rolling carts.

I checked hfqpdb.com or whatever for price/coupon history on the 44" box and 439$ is the lowest it's ever been priced.

Edit: Tanner found it for right at 400$ in 2019.

Those US general Tool boxes have some great reviews on youtube and comparisons to snap-on ones. Ill most likely buy one for my garage when i buy my house. I haven't heard anything bad about them. Plus im no professional mechanic lol.

what I really like is the add-ons that can go with it.

top chest, side chest, side locker, etc etc etc. like just so much designed to go with it if you need more space.

I currently have a really old craftsman toolbox, handed down to me from my step-grandfather, which you can see here:

garage looks nothing like this anymore lol, but I've run way out of space in that tool box and it's just loaded with a bunch of his old hand-me-down tools that I want to keep but I just don't use.

Having used and owned just about every box out there im going to tell you they are pretty good boxs. Much better than the huskys, and pretty decent compared to the snapons. The best boxes you can get are still the matco boxes. The harbor freight, snap on, and cornwells are all pretty similar. The snap on and cornwells are built a bit better but dont really hold up any different.

yep. each additional piece is roughly 200$. so that's 600$ in addons. with 440$ for the base 44" box, you're right over 1k for the whole setup. what's the husky?

Yea i really like the add on features too. Allows you to upgrade an expand when budget allows and you get more tools. Ive got a 5 drawer husy and a 3 drawer portable tool box right now and that stores all my tools just fine. Although ive purposely put off buying more tools simply because i dont have the space for them in my condo right now haha.

Be carefull with the huskys, there slides dont hold up well to any weight. And there drawers warp real bad if have to much weigh in them as well.

like Matt said, I've heard bad things about Husky holding up over time or to much load. not that they all have issues, and not that US General ones don't have any, just seen more on Husky.

I like those boxes everytime I see them in HD, but I like the locker attachment better than the drawers for the larger items like you mentioned.

    :rofl::rofl:

yeah pictures don't make it look great, but it's all nearly 2ft deep. the locker is really more spacious than it seems. spent a while checking them all out at HF yesterday.

I bought mine in blue about 1 year ago for $400.. Well worth it keep an eye out for a coupon

    https://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/2721...XTRA_DEEP_ROLLER_CABINETS_1575520212.3063.jpg

I will say that if you even plan on buying a $200 add on drawer compartment just go ahead and buy the bigger box.

I want that end locker most of all out of the attachments, but at $200 it's ridiculous. :angrygirl:
