    Hey there!

Are you a member of OverlandBound forums? If you are, I am positive you will probably get more traction when asking for coordinates or favorite campsites.

A lot of members here like to think that if they just don’t share/talk about their favorite sites, people won’t come to them. With GPS navigation software/online mapping software there is no such thing as a “secret” camp spot.

Another flight of fantasy is the “State of Jefferson”. It never happened and it most likely never will. But, there are again, people who hold out hope for the “better days”. Good luck with that people.

My personal favorite spots are near Mono lake and the Inyo National Forest. Lots of space to breathe, hundreds of trails and countless lakes, streams and hot springs. HWY 395 can lead you to some of the greatest geological diversity on this continent. The best thing to do is grab a map of your choice, point to what looks interesting and go explore! You never know what you might find. The best adventures are ones where you take a deep breath and dive in.

    Good Luck!

DM incoming with some of my saved spots that I'd take my daughter to.

As far as finding spots, I tend to just pick an area that I want to go and then scroll around google maps/earth looking for a clearing that looks good. A lot of the time you can even see a fire ring from google's satellite view; it's pretty incredible! We have also done quite a bit of turning down random dirt roads over the years with mixed results in terms of quality campgrounds, but never any dangerous situations. People tend to mark their private land clearly and we make sure to respect any fences or signs we come across.

@Anderson, as relayed to you privately thanks for your response, help, and introduction to many of the Drifter.

Finally got out on our maiden voyage in the Drifter into the Big Sur hinterland. Love the Drifter. My wife and two young daughters were stoked.

I know some have posted that deploying and putting away the awning was a pain. Always had an assist from grandkid, so never found it difficult. Awning installed courtesy of VO...

My wife and I are headed for our first trip to Southern Utah starting on Thursday. We are planning to spend a couple weeks in the Escalante area.

If you happen to be along our route, we would love to do a quick mini Drifter meetup with anyone interested. We got our Drifter in January and have been madly planning and building for this trip. We have a ACLB and have just completed our second prototype bed buildout. We have used the Drifter for many short trips, but this will be our first week plus loving out of the rig.

Here is our approximate schedule. DM me if you want to say hi and have some flexibility on times.

    Boise - Midday, Thursday 13th

Salt Lake City - Midday, Friday, 14th

    St George - Saturday 15th

    Escalante - 16th through 23rd

    Boise - Midday, Monday, 31st

We will take it. We are planning to employ strategies we learned after living in Nevada for 10 years. Plus, maybe a few less people?

Just got back from a few days in Death Valley. Having not traveled much over the last year it definitely helped to restore both my, and my wife's sanity.

We're heading down to Death Valley on March 17, leaving from Vancouver, WA. Zero itinerary yet; probably start in the Saline Valley area. Let me know if you want to meet up or your "must see" roads or sites.

How eastern are you in Washington? I'm only about 3 hours east of Spokane, and head that way from time to time.

Ahh, almost Oregon. We've passed through Kennewick a few times while travelling through, but not too much east of it. I'll keep you in mind next time!
