Had some friends and if you laid a silent/ghost fart and didn't "call it" by saying "safety" you'd get punched in the arm.
So in honor of @ghostfart , I'm calling.. Safety

No, no, no. That's what crop dusting is. The bigger question is has @Fernando Hot Boxed you?

I didn't think you could camp that close to the developed campgrounds.

Was just up there the weekend before last. Went in pretty much the same route. It’s doable if you stay on the easy to intermediate trails. My stock 2017 OR with only performance upgrade being some Nitto Trail Grappler tires made it all the way up to the lookout no problem. Next day we hit some rougher trails, made it through those but my side steps and undercarriage definitely took a beating.

There were some guys that were up there in a first gen as well. Also a sprinter van somehow.. So yes I would say it’s doable lol.

I'm totally green to free camping (overlanding as some might call it)... Is it legal to pull off forest service roads like this and camp for the night? My wife and I would love to go to this spot since it's only about 2 hours away from us.

    From the forest service website:

Typically, dispersed camping is NOT allowed in the vicinity of developed recreation areas such as campgrounds, picnic areas, or trailheads. Many people drive out on Forest Service roads into the woods and find a clearing or a spot near a stream or with a view of the mountains. Do not drive on meadows to access your camping site. Drive on existing roads to prevent resource damage. Dispersed camping is allowed in a one-mile perimeter away from campgrounds and 100 feet from any stream. To prevent resource damage please keep your campsite within 150 feet from a roadway.
