It is my understanding that opening the door turns the truck off. Danger is that someone steals the dog, or maliciously opens the door to turn off ac and hurt dog.

    Less likely

It's a 2018 cement. I live by the beach so never usually warmer than 80. With that said I am well aware of how hot it can get, quickly in a vehicle. I would NEVER put my pup in danger.

Op I understand why this would be handy.

I had an FJ and if I took my dog to vet I would leave the truck running with AC and then use key to manually lock the truck.

Usually for a minute or two. Minimal risk.

I will admit, that I would never do this with a baby.

Would also never do this without AC with my dog even for a minute or two.
