We still have “blocks of instruction” that unorthodox training methods are commonly used.

    There are always methods!

Also, I missed the shotgun fight? I keep a shotgun for home defense. I dont need a 30 round mag or 500 yard range capability for my home. Old trusty 870 with an extended tube is plenty for me! I have an ar in my safe, but that's mostly where it stays.

That’s true but it’s also true that fuckups typically make more work when they try to help. Doesn’t take long for them to rank out or depending on the “type” of fuck up, get kicked out. They also take up most of the manual labor type of work and menial tasks others don’t want to do. There is also a difference in having shit to do that needs all hands on deck vs being in the woods on a patrol, on a range shooting or conducting an assault; things of that nature.

Probably very different if you happen to be in a unit or job that does paperwork, works on vehicles or things of that nature. I can only speak to the dumb grunt type units I served in.

Fact. Case in point - back in 1999 a well-intentioned 2-striper helped build some power cables for base CE. Those cables went on to generators, which powered some shelters, which contained about $150,000 worth of tactical radios. During the night, it rained, and those tactical power cable heads filled with water because the well-intentioned but poorly trained PLUMBER tried to do electrical work (because the actual electrician had his wisdom teeth removed)...and instead of getting the expected 120 volts we were getting 160 volts in three phases...and the $.94 cent fuses didn't think anything of it and thus smoked the radios. CE was pissed that their 2000 budget was short a backhoe to reimburse our lost radios.

As the saying goes - if you thing professionals are expensive, wait until you hire amateurs.

Yes it does put a strain on the good workers. But so does having to do the job over or the $$ lost to the screw up the dumbass did in first place.

We had a aircraft "mechanic" that couldnt read a tape measure! He ended up in tool crib handing out tools. A great majority of idiots worked or got put into tool crib....this was only for the guys that werent in real trouble just idiots. A select few did it to get a break from flightline but most were screwups that couldnt be trusted to touch a screwdriver.

Please go back to post # 5708 of this thread. What does it say? Does it say anything about the supposed “garbage geardo product”? The answer is no. What does it say? It advises the wise TacomaWorld audience that the guy “Must be a double secret squirrel tier one special operator.”

Look at the picture below of a guy getting paid to represent Lane Cedar Hope Chests. That guy MUST be some kind of pimp for a Garbage Geardo product, right? Really? Know who that guy is?

Congrats, you can post a useless reply to a fact-based answer to a TW members’ request for information.

For the younger military members of TW, the guy in the below ad is Audie Murphy, the most decorated Soldier of WWII, and maybe a double secret squirrel tier one operator. You can read about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audie_Murphy

You need someone to talk to mate? This whole thread is a laugh and while we do talk about serious stuff here we don’t take ourselves seriously here.

When I’m feeling anxious I get short with everyone so I get it if that’s the case. If that’s not the case and it’s acting the cunt for cunts sake I get that too, but at that point I don’t give a fuck.

Yes. He was also a poster child for PTSD-induced alcoholism “what not to do.” Sad, really - I’ve heard a lot of stories about how he was a decent dude but he couldn’t get over the war.

Thanks bud. As a member of the SAMC, I know Audie Murphy well. I could keep this going but clearly you don’t read everything and pick what gives you something to bitch about. I called it a geardo product, not the original poster. I also stated that most don’t recognize a hero by looks alone. Audie Murphy is one of the few that many can. Additionally I said that it’s not a far off assumption that someone promoting a geardo product is some fake want-to-be secret squirrel. So relax, maybe get laid or have a beer. We get you’re USAF TST, no one is taking away from what your guy did or didn’t do. I didn’t read about him (yet), but don’t fault someone (original poster) for assuming someone in an ad isn’t what they claim. You could’ve just said who it was without taking it so personal and being a dick about it.

I think any of us can list war hero’s off, give it a rest.

Yes and no. There are also a lot of stories without any real facts. Such as the one about child abuse. He was a drunk, as were a lot of WWII vets. They were taught to bottle it up and be embarrassed by any form of battle fatigue. Audie was also addicted to pain killers at one point. He locked himself in his room to kick it.

Want another good story, read about MSG Raul Benavidez.

Well now. Most folks have heard of Basilone, Murphy and few of Pitzenbarger. But how many have heard of Curry, both father and son. Sadly few can name more than two or three unless they were directly related to you. But at least these are heros. Not the diluted version of the word they use today to describe folks just doing their day to day jobs.
