Marriage = legally binding contract with the government

Tacoma = legally binding contract with TacomaWorld

Take your pick... not sure which is worse :)

I’m really just looking for the ring to parts ratio that has worked well for others on this wonderful forum.

I’m thinking 1:1. For every dollar I spend on a ring, I spend the same amount on parts. The best part about this equation is that the math is easy :)

Excuse my straightforwardness here, but pressure my balls. If you aren't ready then you aren't ready and a good woman will understand that. Clearly she doesn't sound like she is because if she is demanding things from you like that then that really makes me wonder what else she will feel entitled to demand in the future as well.

If you were never wanting to get married and we're upfront about that with her then she shouldn't be surprised now. If you wanted it and told her eventually and she is making demands then it may be time to re-evalute the relationship. Regardless, any woman that is going to make demands from me of that nature or give me ultimatums at any point can hit the road.

8 years and no ring seems kinda sketchy, but I'm gonna need to see pictures to be sure.

Based on your track record of vehicle ownership only lasting an average of 15 months, pouring a bunch of money into a depreciating asset that you are likely going to get rid of soon and take a total loss on the mods as well as depreciation isn't a good idea. And if you have been together for 8 years and are feeling 'pressure' and trying to decide how little you can get away with (unless you were teenage high school sweethearts) I'm going to go out on a limb and say she's also probably not the one, so that may not be the best investment either, but can end up being far more expensive than some truck parts.

    • Buy house first
    • Buy truck second
    • Buy ring third.
Truck and house are not community property.

    You're welcome.

I'm in the same boat, we decided no rings and if we do it won't be a marriage tie just something to symbolize our life together. Simple, plain ass, gemless bands, no money-funnel marriage or wedding, with our money going to useful things like a house, vehicle maintenance, camping equipment and vacations. Common law has the exact same benefits where I live.

When I asked my wife to marry me I didn't have any money. I bought an inexpensive ring (real, but small). It's all I could swing at the time. A few years later when money wasn't as much of a problem I tried to upgrade it to something more substantial. She got miffed and said "you'll do no such thing. I don't give a shit about how big it is (insert joke here). It's what it represents". She's been wearing it for 29 years now.

How can you expect TW to solve this mathematical puzzle without pictures of your girl friend?

Probably should include contact info for her in case anyone here thinks a more in depth interview is required before giving you their opinion.

Small ring to make the point. Jewelry is a waste of money. And you'll have to replace it when it gets lost...
And here is the key: Elope.
Buy truck bits upon return. (Weddings SUCK as much as they are expensive - no one enjoys them!)

I spent $1k on a ring for my wife and she was happy with that. Every other time i spend money on car parts or fishing gear, i donate 1/2 to 3/4 of the same amount to my wife's tattoo fund. Not sure if your girl is asking for some big ass expensive ring, but if mine was, I'd tell her to KICK ROCKS! BTW, get your shit together and quit spending money on vehicles. Car dealership loves your ass!
