since you aren't married yet. you won't regret spending it on your truck. best to get all the stuff you want before marriage. once you are married you won't have full control over your spending habits :).

My friend married this girl while i was in the military. Only knew her for a couple months. One day we were riding in his Jeep he was telling me he gave this girl a ring that he got from his grandma in Germany, but then he had a goofy ass look on his face and tossed me a receipt from Walmart for a ring that costed like $150..
Another option to think about haha

Women need to feel provided for. That is one of the ways God calls us to Honor our wives. Whenever you can it is best Wow her every once in a while. I have messed up a good marriage by being incredibly selfish and self-centered. I am in no way describing anyone other than myself. I constantly have to keep my wifes idea of what she needs in my mind just to get it right some of the time.

    I hope this helps.

There are roughly 3.45 billion women on the planet. They probably don't all like rings. Just sayin'...

I'll take the challenge and say except for family heirlooms etc, I spent less than most anyone here on rings. $500 for the diamond and resetting, $125 for both bands.

15 years now, she hasn't worn it forever because of arthritis and it doesn't matter to me. She also said long ago "don't spend a lot of money on jewelry for me" and isn't into other expensive stuff like clothes, shoes, purses.

OP, is it just general discussion or is there a particular ring/amount you and your GF are looking for?

That's actually probably a good idea. If that's what it takes to have you NOT put those dumb things on then seems good.

OP, I know you've said this post was meant to be a joke but I wanted to offer another female perspective. We dated for 8 years before we got married. Only took one break, when I briefly dumped him for a guy with a mohawk and a trans am in high school. We got married in 2008 - justice of the peace in Vegas. Didn't tell our family for almost a year. I was 21. He proposed to me over AOL Instant Messenger and our rings were plain silver bands he got for us while he was stationed in Okinawa. After being married for about two years, we got me a set of "real rings" but I hardly ever wear them, I prefer the silver band. For our ten year anniversary we went back to Vegas with family and friends and did a vow renewal with Elvis. I wouldn't change a damn thing.

That's a long way of saying, just talk about it and keep it simple. Communicate. Talk about her ring expectations and then have fun shopping together. And then go buy your truck parts. I feel sorry for the guys on here saying "it isn't your own money after marriage". Me and my husband each have our own hobbies; mine is my truck and his is his car. He has no problem with me dropping money on my truck because he knows I have no problem with him dropping money on his car. Even if I think window tint is stupid.

Life doesn't end after marriage, contrary to what a lot of people seem to think. It also shouldn't be a ball and chain situation.
Life ends after having kids. Haven't had any yet because I don't want my life to end

Now I'm off to buy a bag of ring pops.
