MegaWarrior Basket w/ Extension Installation

The Yakima basket support brackets fit perfectly under the front cross bars of the OEM roof rack, but they are about an inch off-center on the back bar. It's cranked down and feels secure, but it's definitely not perfect. Is there a step I missed or custom bracket I can get that fits better? Or should I roll with it and relax?

 

Same issue. I'm gonna cut the extension piece down so it's a perfect fit. Just haven't done it yet.

 

Yakima support says, "Relax and roll with it." Specifically:
"Sometimes you can't get the mounting bracket exactly squared up on the crossbar, particularly when the crossbar placement on the vehicle is fixed like on the Tacoma. The mounting brackets for the MegaWarrior can only be placed at certain points of the basket, so sometimes they won't line up. While not the most aesthetic looking, this will not affect the performance of the basket on your Toyota."

AZVern, Let me know how your modification of the bracket turns out. It bugs me.

 

hey guys trying to confirm something here and wondering if this is the Mega Warrior which is listed as 52” wide, 48” long,? or is this the mega warrior with an additional extent ion and if you found a solution?

Only picture i could find was me complaining about loading up in the rain.

As far as advice goes, I think I would go with a Prinsu next time around. The OEM rack sits up very high. Then, clamping a basket to it makes it even higher. It's noisy, but I think that's something you just have to get used to. It KILLED my gas mileage. I mean, cut it in half. Maybe a lower profile rack would help a bit with that. It also has started leaking...again. I took my teen aged boys camping with me. And they slam-banged the boxed up there with little regard for my truck. So this weekend I'm taking it apart and resealing it. But it works just fine and is very affordable. Best of luck and seal the heck out of the bolt holes!
