Looking to lift my tacoma 6 inches and i was wondering why the complete 6inch lift kit for rough country is about $1000 cheaper then other brands like BDS and Fabtech?

The Smooth City 7.2" lift is much better, and costs half what Rough Country goes for. You just have to cut out 63% of your frame, and replace it with durable PVC tubing.

    Sound dumb?

    So does Rough County....
Do yourself a favor and research these mods before going balls-deep into something you'll likely regret.

Welcome to TW OP. A lot of guys here don't really care for the 6 inch drop bracket lifts that much. With the drop bracket lifts, you will have the bracket hanging pretty low and may lose ground clearance. Most that have a 3 inch lift and run 35 inch tire have to do a considerable amount of trimming, tubbing, and beating with a hammer to get the clearance they need. I have a 6 inch Pro Comp lift on mine that was already on the truck when I bought it. It looked cool and I didn't know about the negative aspects at the time. If I had it to do over again I would have got the kit 81trekker designed for the 2nd gens. I'm not sure if it will work on the 3rd gens or not but I think it's looking promising. Anyway the rough country lift kits are more of a budget friendly kit.( meaning cheap) The guys here like to give each other a hard time but they mean well. This is a great forum with a wealth of knowledge. You can learn just about anything you need to about Tacomas here. In the end it is your truck so build it like you want. If you are happy with it then that is all that really matters. Hope this helps.
